Convenient campground with water hose and sewer dump (the only NPS dump in the area). Easy access from town and friendly staff

Super location on the edge of Joshua Tree NP and a great starting point for many trails. Also close enough to Yucca Valley to make shopping and restaurants accessible if needed. Great facilities and helpful staff.

Weve stayed twice at Jumbo Rocks, so we decided to stay this time at Black Rock. Big mistake. The campsite was extremely off-level. The campground is a relatively long drive from most sights in Joshua Tree. And it wasnt particularly scenic. We were so dissatisfied we left early and camped outside Joshua Tree.

If you are here to see lots of Joshua Trees, this park is great. The staff are very kind and welcoming, which is nice. This campground is run by the park service, however it is a good 20 minute drive to the west entrance of the park, and about an hour from the north entrance - I wish this was made more clear in the park information when booking. Part of the fun of staying in a national park campground is to stay IN the park. The roads in this campground are in desperate need of maintenance, and the sites are not even close to level. The turns are very tight if you have a medium to large RV, but for a car or van they are okay. Next time I would either stay in one of the campgrounds in the actual park, or would pick a campground with hookups in the town of Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree if staying outside of the park.

We loved this campground. We camped in a 35ft fifth wheel. It was a tight fit. We stayed in site #17. In our opinion the only sites for our rig were 17, 9, 7 and 67. Lots of sun to charge up our solar in 17. There is a good slope so leveling is an issue but if you have a shovel just dig down a few inches on the high side and you shouldn't have an issue. Just fill the whole back up before you leave. This park was quiet, picturesque and had some wonderful trails to hike. Would definitely stay here again. The dump station isn't exactly level. It tilts to the outboard side so we didn't get completely empty but not really a big deal. Potable water is available at the dump station also. Propane is available at Tractor Supply in Yucca Valley and we were only 8 miles from the West entrance of the National Park. This was perfect as most of the hiking in the park was closer to this entrance.

The roads in the campground really need a lot of attention. The price for the site made it bearable. I wish the staff that checked us in were more knowledgable about the area. They were very nice however. Good location next to the Park

I love Joshua Tree but when i booked the campground, i hadnt noticed it was for RVs so i was sandwiched between 2 big trailers and diesel fumes were annoying while folks were coming and going. I should have checked for a tents only area. But, i usually like this park a lot

Wonderful campground in a stunning area of the world. The staff very welcoming and helpful. Pretty straightforward to get to, although on a big hill so some RVs may struggle. The toilets are on the less well maintained side. However, I suppose that could be expected.

Good campground. Some sites are not level and you can see into the campsites next to you. Overall, everyone had good manners and it was fine though.

The campground including our site was neat and tidy as would be expected of a national park. What took this from 3 or 4 stars to 5 stars was the helpfullnes of the ranger who greeted us on our entry - made sure we found our site and answered our questions around local knowledge - and even stopped by after we set up to make sure all was well.

Nice quiet campground with a Nature Center and visitor center. There are hiking trails around the campground that are really interesting. They also have flush toilets and an RV dump.

Great campground, lots of clean washrooms. Close to the visitor centre and camp store. I picked up a constellation map that was glow in the dark, excellent reference if you are a novice star gazer. Close to the town of Joshua Tree, Pioneertown, and Palm Springs. We hiked the Panorama trail, which provided a good intro into Joshua Tree NP. Lots of different plants and flowers in bloom in October. Views were amazing! Saw an owl, Jay, several geckos, and a hummingbird.

Nice campground if you don't get a spot directly in Joshua tree NP. Spots are not very flat so come prepared.

Very nice campground with good access to hiking trails and not a lot of through traffic since it is on a spur of its own in the northwest corner of the park and not connected by roads to the rest of the park. There appears to have been significant, recent flooding/run-off, so the campground roads were in poor shape. The only caution: sites are pretty uneven, so leveling campers can be challenging.

Joshua Tree is very beautiful and camping nearby at Black Rock Canyon Campground puts you in close proximity. We found the campground to be enjoyable but in need of some maintenance. The roads are full of potholes that have been patched making the drive very rough. We viewed some park employees applying black top patch out of a bag to some potholes in the road near our space The road is well beyond needing patches and could use a complete repaving. The pull thru spaces are also not designated well as to which way you are supposed to pull in and we wound up facing the opposite direction as another camper or two in nearby pull thru spaces. Better notation either on the map or in the campground would help. Water and the dump station were nearby and easily accessible.

We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would like to say is the campgrounds need to be updated such as the road to the sites and water to the sites to hook up . the black top was in poor shape . the basked ball court I think it was wasn't able to use do to poor shape .

First time at Joshua Tree. A different experience then what I am accustomed. Campground old but serviceable. Ground uneven. Plenty of room for our 22 foot trailer in the pull-thrus. RV dump on site for a small fee. Bathrooms good. Loved the hiking trails out of the camp area. Don't miss the Hidden Valley hike in the park.

Great campground experience. Clean and well maintained. Bring lots of water for the West Loop or any other hike. Note best times to avoid heat because trail gets kinda tough towards south 1/3 of loop and takes longer than advertised if you are a senior. I think next time we will start there and loop around to the north :)Overall great springtime experience!
