Beautiful site, well maintained, plenty of space. Some nice hikes nearby. Everything was great, but the camp host was a crank.

Really enjoyed all the unique rock formations in the park. We also enjoyed a constellation presentation given one evening while there.

If you have a larger RV, Black Rock Campground is the perfect way to see Joshua Tree without the nail-biting worries accompanying taking your RV to a small National Parks site. Generous, fairly level spaces, as well as a dump station and water fill at the end of the campground mean that you'll be able to meet your basic needs, and the scenery is wonderful. A few neat hikes are available from this location, and it's under 10 miles to go into the park and hike from any of the other trailheads there. We also stayed at a smaller campground inside the park, and by comparison, I would recommend Black Rock very highly for larger vehicles or groups. The fact that it has flush toilets and sinks is also a neat bonus.

This campground is in an incredible setting! Unfortunately the sites were not very level and made it difficult to find a place to set up our teardrop trailer. Luckily the site next to us had people who were late to arrive and early to leave, so we were able to use their site to drive through so we could set up our trailer. Another item to be aware of is that there are no pathways to get to the restrooms. We either had to go all the way up and around on the streets or we could cut through sites where nobody was staying. It was a bit awkward.

Great place. Not many people. Caution! little disorienting for night time arrival

I had a hard time finding my way to site. Didn't see any signs to direct me to campsite

The Black Rock CG lies in a very nice surrounding. Restrooms are good but the narrow driveways need to be rebuild. What really needs to be done is setting up signs to find the sites or even the exit. You need a map to find your way. The site number is not enough.

This camp grounds need major repairs and upgrades. Roads, bathrooms and campsites.

Great access to the national park. Also, Black Rock is close to the town of Yucca Valley, so it's convenient for groceries, gas, other services.

Beautiful campground in the middle of a Joshua Tree forest. Nice sites with decent spacing. Spectacular hikes right from the campground.

Roads in the campground need repair - significant potholes.

The entrance to Black Rock Canyon campground is located outside of the park and depending on what time of day you enter the park, there might be quite a backup at the gate. But it is convenient to Yucca Valley and the town of Joshua Tree. Not much privacy in the sites, but we found that even on Saturday night the partying was kept to a minimum and everyone was courteous. I've read reviews complaining how hard it is to achieve level there, but we were able to turn our teardrop trailer a little to the side and were perfectly level in that site. The pavement within the campground is pretty terrible, but we take our trailer down dirt and gravel roads so that didn't faze us. The camp hosts were very nice, and the campground well maintained. We would stay here again.

Campsites are nicely maintained and very clean. It is a beautiful location. We will be returning in the future. The staff was very friendly. The store had a wide variety of items.
