Site are spacious and well maintained. Rangers were knowledgeable and friendly at the visitors center. Small souvenir shop in the visitors center. Rangers gave great advice for hikes out of Black Rock. We do have use a number of blocks to level our trailer, but was manageable. Will be trying other sites in the future.

When I asked the person manning the desk where my site was I was sent the wrong direction where I had extreme difficulty making a very sharp turn. The roads are deplorable. The sites are nice but I had a tough time getting level.

Beautiful site, well maintained, plenty of space. Some nice hikes nearby. Everything was great, but the camp host was a crank.

Really enjoyed all the unique rock formations in the park. We also enjoyed a constellation presentation given one evening while there.

If you have a larger RV, Black Rock Campground is the perfect way to see Joshua Tree without the nail-biting worries accompanying taking your RV to a small National Parks site. Generous, fairly level spaces, as well as a dump station and water fill at the end of the campground mean that you'll be able to meet your basic needs, and the scenery is wonderful. A few neat hikes are available from this location, and it's under 10 miles to go into the park and hike from any of the other trailheads there. We also stayed at a smaller campground inside the park, and by comparison, I would recommend Black Rock very highly for larger vehicles or groups. The fact that it has flush toilets and sinks is also a neat bonus.

This campground is in an incredible setting! Unfortunately the sites were not very level and made it difficult to find a place to set up our teardrop trailer. Luckily the site next to us had people who were late to arrive and early to leave, so we were able to use their site to drive through so we could set up our trailer. Another item to be aware of is that there are no pathways to get to the restrooms. We either had to go all the way up and around on the streets or we could cut through sites where nobody was staying. It was a bit awkward.

The Black Rock CG lies in a very nice surrounding. Restrooms are good but the narrow driveways need to be rebuild. What really needs to be done is setting up signs to find the sites or even the exit. You need a map to find your way. The site number is not enough.

A bit of magic nestled in the Joshua Trees above Yucca Valley. Gorgeous views, hike right out your back door, variety of types of spaces - if you couldnt get in to Jumbo Rock and thought you were settling you may just fine yourself pleasantly surprised!

Primitive but not really out of the town. Felt like we were camping in a town park. Roads were tight and not well maintained. No one there when we arrived to check in or help find our spot. We have a larger rig (35') and while our spot was big enough, it wasn't one of the bigher ones and was tight.

We had to vacate our site after a creep came by our site, clearly targeting us with our NY newer vehicles panhandling. We felt very unsafe in the deserted campground with no security. No one in the office, says to leave a message or call 911. I called 911. Never heard back so we left.

Love the area and large sites but the signage is terrible. Please add signs helping people find their site number.

We enjoyed Black Rock Campground as it was not in the most popular part of Joshua Tree NP, so less busy and quieter. There were nice hikes there. Also, a smart phone could receive service there.

We enjoy the area; however, the campground was in horrible shape. The roads in the campground are the worst weve encountered in any park with wash and pot holes throughout. Very disappointing for one of our National parks.

I was a little intimidated when I read the 12' height restriction but then saw that I was not going to hit anything and that I had plenty of room to maneuver my 30' 5th wheel. The ranger was dubious and kept saying we were violating the rules but it worked out.
