The roads around the campground to your campsite needed to be replaced decades ago. There's lots of potholes and few places where you could get stuck, if you aren't extremely careful.

Great location, enyoyed my time there. You really need a shower facility at this site, seems like this location is under-developed and overlooked.

The park itself was awesome. Lots of good hiking trails. Restrooms at trail heads were clean. We had our trailer at Black Rock Campground. Restrooms were clean as was the dump station. Lots of people were camping in tents. I'm sure they would appreciate it if the Park put in some showers. The roads in the campground were in really poor condition. The spaces for camping and trailers could really use some leveling. I had to raise one side of my trailer 5" to level it.

Its ok. It has a nice views and fair facilities. But the camping site was very uneven, it was hard to get the RV leveled. Also the sites were very close together and it was really crowded. There wasnt much privacy.

I am in awe of how poor this campground was. There is no signage to find sites, like zero. There are potholes and straight up missing roads/asphalt. I did not see one ranger the entire time. The buildings' paint is peeling. Incredible that this is the state of our national parks.

Very great location. Super close from hiking trails. We loved our experience.

Note: The Roads are not that bad! They're not good, but unless you're in a Class A pusher they should be fine. I loved Black Rock! Beautiful campground and we had a beautiful site. The place is pretty worn down in general; the roads are rough and the bathrooms are too, but it's still serviceable. Worth a trip!

Black Rock CG desperately needs maintenance and improvements. The roads are rubble, the sites are rutted and unlevel.

Quiet, good place to go to see JTNP. There are flush toilets. The roads and signage around the campground are difficult. Bring level blocks. Beautiful sunrises.

Nice campground location - with ample cell service, flush toilets, great hikes, and close proximity to town. It's not actually in the park, which is a bit of a drive from there. The campground itself is in disrepair: the roads are crumbling and full of pot holes. The camp sites are rutted and uneven. I wonder why this is allowed to continue as I see similar feedback given from months even years ago. This is the priciest campground of all in the area. Maybe its just an unstable piece of land and unavoidable. Who knows. Site 009 is not very level, and close to the dump station, though it had a nice view and is located on the outer rim of the campground. I'd stay here again because of the convenience. But I prefer Jumbo Rocks.

Park is wonderful. Campground would benefit from investment in infrastructure. Whatcha say Congress?

The only downside to the trip was the crowded park, making it difficult to find parking at trailheads. That said, our experience at the campground was excellent. The camp hosts were helpful and friendly, the bathrooms and sites clean, and the atmosphere nice and quiet.

Campground was nice but poorly marked so it was a little difficult finding site. Very clean . The roads needed repair and the restrooms were clean but tired. Would definitely stay again. The park is amazing.

Great area for hiking trails. Convenient to the town of Joshua Tree for services and good cell reception, Friendly hosts and staff at visitor center. Clean restrooms and has water on site unlike many campgrounds in the park. Unfortunately the campground is in bad repair. The roads are full of potholes and many campsites are not level. Separate area from the rest of the park so plan accordingly. Works well for a one night stay on your way through the area.

This campground has some beautiful vistas, but definitely lacks privacy and spacing in most of the sites. It has water, which the other campgrounds in J Tree don't, so that's nice. Great trails right from the campground. Other campers quiet and respectful even on a busy weekend in peak season. Some Verizon signal.

Poor campground conditions. Roads and parking lot in horrible condition, one could say severely neglected. Campsites were not well-defined. The rule is that you camp within 25 feet of your picnic table - there was a huge RV outside of the 25 foot range and only 5 feet from our picnic tables. Camp hosts did not address the issue. Rangers were nowhere to be found throughout the day. No ranger talks or programs. The trails were poorly marked. The was evident by all the footprints going in different directions when there was a turn or fork in the trail. There were two knowledgeable women working the office/store on the first day. Over the weekend there was a guy who worked there that didnt like to talk, that is, until a cute young ranger made an appearance; then, he came out of his shell. Weekend staff not knowledgeable about the park or even how to get the correct sticker for the NPS Passport book. Fortunately, Mother Nature was beautiful, so it was worthwhile to put up with the bad park service conditions and staff.

Roads need improvement. Restroom could use a makeover and a good cleaning. Staff at visitors center shouldnt direct guests away from visitors center restrooms just because they enter visitors center.

This campground is located in the northwest part of Joshua Tree NP and is one of two campgrounds that has potable water and a dump station. The roads around the park are not well maintained, so there are pot holes and uneven areas. Also the signage in the campground is pretty much non existent. So have a copy of the map to find your site. Our site was not very level, but we made it work. As expected there are a lot of Joshua Trees in the campground which were amazing. As with all the campgrounds in the park, you need to have a reservation, but the campground was not full when we were here. There is limited cell service, but you can make a same day reservation at Recreation.gov.

The roads are full of giant potholes. Most campsites are badly uneven. Its quite a long drive from the North Visitor Center. We will never stay on this campground again.
