Glad the visitor center was still open a few minutes as we were challenged finding our site 76. The ranger provided a map of the entire NP and one of the campground. The next morning we headed for the Hi-View trail but found what lead to it sufficient. We'll save Hi-View for next time. Restrooms are conveniently located.

Great site, super close to restrooms and water source. It was windy so recommend to secure your tent well. There is a fire pit and grill on site along with a picnic table. Spacious site that can fit 2 vehicles. It is not leveled. It has a small slope to it. Would fit small RV or trailer.

The campsite was good. We enjoyed our stay despite the strong winds we had that night which spoiled our evening, but thats part of the adventure. A 10 min drive to the nearest Walmart Supercenter and about a 20 min drive to the west entrance of Joshua Tree. Theres clean restrooms with flushing toilets and running water.

Everything was good but just be aware of those wind gusts. The day we arrived was warm and windy, but after sunset, there were strong winds and it got cold. A 10 min drive to the nearest Walmart Supercenter and about a 20 min drive to the west entrance of Joshua Tree. Theres clean restrooms with flushing toilets and running water.

A beautiful setting. Many of the sites are not level, but manageable. The campsite access roads have not been upgraded in many years, but manageable. Clean, quite, stars and moon were amazing. Nature Centers staff (Bill) was very informative.

Loved it but the bathrooms were not clean and generators ran way too much. I think generators should be banned completely

Sites were so sloped I couldnt even park a 16 ft trailer, therefore I wasted my $50. They should warn you ahead of time

Excellent site. The road was a bit rough and narrow inside the campground, but its location and views are spectacular!

Campground is lovely, lots of Joshua Trees, easy to get in and around, close to Yucca Valley, and nearby trails are nice.

Only recommendation is that the camp roads are in need of repair. Perhaps some of the holes and missing pavement is a result of all the rain we have received lately? Had a wonderful time, really enjoyed our hikes from the campsite. Beautiful terrain to explore.

Campground asphalt roads were more like driving on boulders. Very few level camping sites; we have only a 19' truck camper. Tent only sites are more level, but they would not let us use them. The whole park seems pretty un-cared for, as the trails were missing signs, and therefore people were going off the trails and getting lost. So many other national parks are much better cared for. A ranger said JTNP is short 13 staff. Another sign of the park not well cared for?We were there 11/26-12/1, just after Tgiving. Cell service for Verizon was poor at office with crowd, good 80% even in sites after the crowds left and only 6 sites taken in the park.

Black Rock campground is easily accessible, has flush toilets, water, no showers. It is quiet, sites are well-spaced and clean. Firepit, table provided. A short drive to get into JTNP north entrance and a short drive into nearby town with restarants, gas, groceries.
@DanielaW392 · Camped on Jan 9, 2022 at Campsite #76
I am giving this 1 star in the hope some official will look at it. I really liked the place, great layout and if you get the right spot, you have some privacy. It is close to JT main entrance and close to shop/gas and still far enought to enjoy dark sky and coyote concerts. Here comes the but, the NOISE POLLUTION by generators is unbelievable. For a National Park?! They are allowed to run 6h out of the day (Starting at 7am !!! ) Like clockwork they all turn on at the same and go the entire 2h designated time, some even longer and nobody hold them accountable. Some generators are so old they sound / stink like a small tractors (!) Not only is it noise pollution, but also air pollution. With the new solar technology I hope officials catch up and minimize pollution of this kind very soon. Again, I would expect different from a National Park.

We had a great time at this site. Firewood is not sold here, so make sure you have plenty to last the night. It was colder than forecasted and having more access to more firewood would have been preferred.

Campground beautiful but difficult to find your space as very few directional signs.
Low flow with little pressure with black water tank flush hose at dump station.

Beautiful campground, bathrooms clean at all times, potable water close by each campsite, friendly rangers, well stocked souvenir shop. One wish; make hiking trails a little more clearly marked for us 1st timers. Would also like to see firewood sold at the Nature Center/Ranger Station.
