We love this campground, because it has all the beautiful Joshua Trees and two epic hikes (Warren & Eureka Peaks) right off the campground. Plus, it's quiet, has flush toilets, and is close to town. Drawbacks are that it doesn't have the big Joshua Tree rocks, and it's outside the park. But these are minor inconveniences that are far outweighed by its benefits.

Restrooms need SOAP

Restrooms were clean. Fire pit with grill and table at every site. Dumpster is easily accessible. Road is rough on sedans. It was real windy on the day we went.

The place look OK it’s not the most beautiful camping I been but it’s ok for one night. The camping is completely out of the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and it’s not the most convenient location. The good think it’s very quiet. The ranger in the office not was the most welcome and not even give me a map from the campground or with amenities the place have.

Site 69 is by the entrance road. It was still quiet. Its location near the restrooms made for short walks. It was perfect for camping in our Honda Pilot. You can see the moon rise over the mountains. Very dark for viewing the night sky.

Awesome campground. It has a fire pit. Very clean picnic table. Also there are flush toilets nearby. The nights during winter can get really cold. So plan to keep yourself warm with a good quality sleeping bag. Also the yucca valley town is 10 mins away from the campground. There is a Walmart and Home Depot located in the town. We got our firewood from Home Depot. The night sky is really beautiful with lot of stars. It is a must visit campground with lot of Joshua tree around you.

I was unprepared for how windy it turned out to be at this particular campground. I also felt the pictures were misleading about how close the campsites were to each other. The map even showed my site back aways from the road when in fact it hugged the main road very tightly. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for almost the entire time we were there. We had to set up camp in cold, pouring rain, but that isn't the campsite's fault. I also wish I had done more research. Apparently high winds are extremely common to this particular area. The one good thing I did appreciate were the bathrooms did appear to be clean and well kept. I won't be staying here again, though. Not unless I had an RV or a tent that could better withstand the high winds.

Very chill and quiet, easy to find. A little confusing about what area was ours as there was a tiny number far from where we actually had to set up. (We had set our tent up but had to move the entire thing once the employee came around once to check on us.) Should have been more clear about that. Nobody was even next to us so I don't understand that. Otherwise it was a very simple process. Would stay here again.

Very nice campground, clean restrooms, lots of trails to explore. There are no showers here so plan accordingly. Town is a few miles away for shopping needs.

Black Rock with water access is a luxury in Joshua tree camping. The camp site we had was nice because of shade from a few Joshua Trees. Shade is also a luxury with camping at JT. Black Rock has some great hikes nearby. We would book Black Rock again over the other sites because of its location and water.

Site #69 was to close to the road and had a very limited flat area to set up tent. But, conveniently located near restroom. I would go for 90 or 91 next time.

A great campground! Our only frustration is dogs are allowed at the campground but not on the hiking trails which is a bummer.
@EmilyA247 · Camped on Feb 24, 2021 at Campsite #69
The location was a little bit outside of the park which was suprising to us, but the campground was perfect. The stars were unbelievable, and the joshua trees at night looked like something from another planet. Will be back again and again!
