We enjoyed our stay at Black Rock Canyon. There were plenty of trails to keep us busy. Using the NPS app for finding those trails was very beneficial.

Just a very quiet place during the week a little busy on the weekend, but it was nice

We were pleasantly surprised with the how quiet the entire campsite was -- despite being fairly full. Access to Joshua Tree was easy, the roads and parking areas were well maintained, restroom facilities were clean, and the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We definitely will return!

The sites were clean and well maintained. Helpful Rangers were able to share information about the trails and campgrounds. Toilet was clean and stocked and the views were worth the trip.

The roads were in poor condition. Sites too close together. And bathroom nearest our site was old and decrepit. Very nice trails near by, except a bit confusing regarding navigating them. Scenery was pleasing.

Black Rock is in a lovely area of slopes and vegetation.Site 66 was plenty large enough for one minivan and one truck, and it was easy to level. Black Rock Campground is close to town, and although it's in the park, you don't pass an entry station on the way in. We realized we needed a campfire, and it was a quick trip to Walmart for (expensive!) firewood. I've stayed in this campground before, and I will definitely be back.

Beautiful campsites, great check-in support, and nice neighbors. Would have rated an "Outstanding" if the dump station was fully operational, road potholes filled, and trailhead visitors did not block trailer entry with their parked vehicles.We'll be back!

The location is convenient to drive and visit the entire park, as well as having several hiking trailheads near the campground, that offer pleasant day hikes. For these reasons it is a good campground. However, the camping spaces are open and close together. If you are a tent or van camper, chances are that someone's generator will be roaring next to you.

Beautiful! Some of the campsites are tight, so be sure to read the descriptions. The hikes directly from the camp ground could be better marked. We got a little lost as so many trails intersect. Just make sure you bring plenty of water!It has easy access to Joshua Tree National Park. Definitely worth the trip!

Very quiet campground! Aesthetically pleasing, Took us a day or two to realize there were closer water spickets intermittently between sites. We thoroughly enjoyed Joshua Tree. The hikes, climbing and bouldering opportunities are endless. Barker Dam hike was beautiful in that desert kind of way! Over all a great visit! We were there Mid April and it was VERY windy!

The location and being surrounded by Joshua Trees was awesome. The Ranger station staff and camp host were very helpful. The hikes from the campground are good. The condition of the roads in the campground were pretty rough and if you go out to the entrance there is no turnabout and you have to exit the campground go several blocks away to a neighborhood of homes to get back in.

The Joshua Trees are spectacular here. Some sites were more private, but we were sandwiched very tightly between sites with big RVs.

Nice to have the nature center with Rangers to talk to.

Running water and real toilets too!
@VeronicaK771 · Camped on Apr 4, 2021 at Campsite #66
This is very nice campground with Joshua Trees galore, however it does not have the breathtaking boulders that you must see when visiting this park, and it is about 45 minutes away from the major trails and other campsites. But it does have flushable toilets which is a plus. If you do stay here, be sure to drive out to the main areas of boulders near Jumbo Rocks campground.
