(Site 63) It was to be only overnight after 14 days of desert boondocking & even before set up was completed my husband wanted to stay another night. So we did (site was available). The weather was amazing, so quiet, calm and no high winds (was in a sandstorm near Salton Sea). Unfortunately the site wasn't close to being level and needed a 5" lift on one side but we had the resources and it worked. It used to be a Jellystone Park so many sites are larger than in the other CG in JTNP so our 30' fifth wheel fit with room to spare. There are many, I believe my husband counted 12 sites that our rig would fit. Many were good for small Class Cs and vans. Plenty of tent sites. Main park of JTNP is only accessible via a couple of hiking trails, no vehicle access except by leaving CG and going to west entrance from Yucca Valley. Hence no National Park pass is not needed for Black Rock Campground.Washroom were clean (no drying apparatus) and although dogs aren't allowed on the hiking trails, there was enough to keep our dog busy sniffing. Saw roadrunners, heard & saw plenty of birds, a harmless snake and a dark sky at night. We'd come back and stay a week. And pop into the main park of the national park.

THE fact that they shut up the visitor center and camping registration for "LUNCH", when 4 or 5 people are working there sounds like poor planning. ANd i makes it hard to know what your supposed to do if you can;'t remember your site number. ALSO Ther are no level sites, and water is scarcse. THE BAthroom has flush toilets but no showers, tell me why? Staff was nice and very helpful. ENTRANCE into the scenic drive was backed up due to fee payments, they did let pass holders cut the line an go in. IT was a pretty busy park for february. IT WAS freezing at night and beautiful during the day.

This campsite has flush toilets and water unlike the other camp sites inside the park. Sites are spacious and ours was level which made it very easy to park our camper van. It's a 20 drive to the main Joshua Tree entrance. It's a beautiful place with interesting terrain and dessert flora. We enjoyed it a lot.The roads, however, are in pretty bad shape which might be a problem for larger rigs.

Stayed in a coach two nights in June. Beautiful view. Cool evenings. Good restrooms. $5 dump station and potable water. Several options to hike 1-4 miles right from the campground. Saw quail, coyote and ground squirrels. Would definitely recommend.

The park was beautiful, clean and in a great location. We had site 63, which was a very large site but were only able to level in the front portion of the site near the road. Overall, the park was excellent and we would go back, but find a site that was less sloped.

Camp hosts were so amazing! They were so accommodating to us and changed our site to something we could fit easier into. We happened to catch a weekend, so it was pretty much a madhouse, but during the week it was nice and quiet. I think the only complaint I have would be that the RV sites are pretty much mixed in with the Tent sites, (who happen to make much more noise) so, if you are looking for peace and quiet, don't go to this park on a weekend. It was about a 10 min drive to the west entrance of Joshua Tree, so we thought we were staying in the park, technically we were, but also technically we were not. The grounds were fairly clean, didn't see too much trash around and the hook ups at our site worked just fine. The campground is a bit of a maze, I got lost a couple of times trying to navigate out before the sun was up, so just FYI. Big rigs are not allowed because of the difficulty navigating between the Joshua Trees, so please just take it slow and help preserve these beautiful trees. The drive through Joshua Tree NP from gate to gate is worth it. Probably the most scenic drive I have ever been on.
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
