Joshua tree after the new year was a great experience. There was a full bathroom near the campsite. Tons of amenities within close proximity of Joshua tree. If you havent been go check it out.

Nice campground close to the city. For RVs has a dump station with water. Most campsites in Joshua Tree NP do not have those services. Also cellphone reception is good. Easy access to trails. Campsite I was at was fairly level.

(Site 63) It was to be only overnight after 14 days of desert boondocking & even before set up was completed my husband wanted to stay another night. So we did (site was available). The weather was amazing, so quiet, calm and no high winds (was in a sandstorm near Salton Sea). Unfortunately the site wasn't close to being level and needed a 5" lift on one side but we had the resources and it worked. It used to be a Jellystone Park so many sites are larger than in the other CG in JTNP so our 30' fifth wheel fit with room to spare. There are many, I believe my husband counted 12 sites that our rig would fit. Many were good for small Class Cs and vans. Plenty of tent sites. Main park of JTNP is only accessible via a couple of hiking trails, no vehicle access except by leaving CG and going to west entrance from Yucca Valley. Hence no National Park pass is not needed for Black Rock Campground.Washroom were clean (no drying apparatus) and although dogs aren't allowed on the hiking trails, there was enough to keep our dog busy sniffing. Saw roadrunners, heard & saw plenty of birds, a harmless snake and a dark sky at night.We'd come back and stay a week. And pop into the main park of the national park.

THE fact that they shut up the visitor center and camping registration for "LUNCH", when 4 or 5 people are working there sounds like poor planning. ANd i makes it hard to know what your supposed to do if you can;'t remember your site number. ALSO Ther are no level sites, and water is scarcse. THE BAthroom has flush toilets but no showers, tell me why? Staff was nice and very helpful. ENTRANCE into the scenic drive was backed up due to fee payments, they did let pass holders cut the line an go in. IT was a pretty busy park for february. IT WAS freezing at night and beautiful during the day.

This campsite has flush toilets and water unlike the other camp sites inside the park. Sites are spacious and ours was level which made it very easy to park our camper van. It's a 20 drive to the main Joshua Tree entrance. It's a beautiful place with interesting terrain and dessert flora. We enjoyed it a lot.The roads, however, are in pretty bad shape which might be a problem for larger rigs.

Stayed in a coach two nights in June. Beautiful view. Cool evenings. Good restrooms. $5 dump station and potable water. Several options to hike 1-4 miles right from the campground. Saw quail, coyote and ground squirrels. Would definitely recommend.

The park was beautiful, clean and in a great location. We had site 63, which was a very large site but were only able to level in the front portion of the site near the road. Overall, the park was excellent and we would go back, but find a site that was less sloped.

The Park is beautiful! God did a great job! Our campsite on the other hand was challenging,we had to block the trailer up 8" on one side to get it level. The campground could use some updating,but the beauty there made it all worthwhile.

Easy access to the trail system from camp. The roads are not well maintained which has been well documented in other reviews. The camp is over regulated when it comes to generator hours of operation, it should just be a single open window during "quiet hours". Campground host does not like bikes but maybe he was just having a bad day. We love this Joshua Tree but would avoid black rock if we had other options within the park.

I've stayed in several j tree campsites, and this was my least favorite. Most campsites (including ours) were very close to each other. Many of our neighboring campsites walked through our site to get to the bathroom and visitor center. Not a huge problem, but not nearly as spacious or private as most jumbo rocks campsites are.
@NeilvAC88547E4 · Camped on Oct 30, 2022 at Campsite #63
Theres a lot of road damage inside the campground, possibly from the heavy rains earlier in the year. The only accessible water to fill RVs is at the RV dump station so driving a motorhome or pulling a trailer requires driving around on the terrible roads. The only contact we had with the camp host was asking about water location.Otherwise its a nice campground with several hiking trails nearby.

CG was nice, bathroom was a bit grungy. Living in bear country it was totally horrifying to see food all over the place. We heard coyotes at night And with all that food laying around they must be well fed. The campsite behind us ha 4 tents and 5 cars, at least all of that group was fairly quiet at night. They had so much food and beverages scattered about that the table wasnt visible. I took photos to entertain friends and family on how not to camp.

Wonderful location amid the Joshua Trees, great views. Elevation above the valley kept it nicely cooler. Unfortunately, it appears the NPS is allowing the campground roads to Very Slowly turn back into sand tracks - the result being extremely bumpy and uneven drives around the loops.
@DanH6147433 · Camped on Apr 7, 2022 at Campsite #63
An adequate place to stay. Not particularly attractive nor interesting. Sites are close together so there is a good amount of cross-noise. Facilities are clean and in good condition. There is a nice gift shop staffed by helpful rangers. Good hikes near by.Important! This campground is NOT in the core of Joshua Tree National park. You will be staying a good 45 minute drive from the main attractions.

Excellent location and trails but roads and pads need work to level and make convenient for RVs.
