Great place to stay that is also close to town, so easy to get to restuarants/etc, but a bit farther to trailheads - just depends on what you're looking for!

The campground is in a very beautiful canyon. The campground is clean and has running water in the bathrooms, which is great. Downside, to the campground being in a canyon is sound travels. You can hear a lot of noise from town. And if you're unfortunate enough to be next to a noisy neighbor, be ready to hear everything. Navigating, the campground was also more difficult than other campgrounds I have stayed at. Overall a good experience though.

I really don't like this campground. I've never stayed in a truly flat campsite. The roads are in disrepair. The signage is minimal. The only reason i stay here is to get a jump on driving back toward Los Angeles.

Excellent campground with spacious tent spots. Close to a lot of hiking trails.

Nice campground and our site was large. Roads are rough and no showers but we knew that so no problem. Fellow campers were a bit loud but I guess thats what you get in a campground. Would have preferred being in the park proper and not having to drive each day to get in. All in all I would recommend.

My son and I had our first tent camping experience and it was fantastic. We camped at spot 80, highly recommend that spot, it was secluded enough and large . Although it was a little far away from the restrooms, that was the only tiny negative part. Speaking of the restrooms, they were immaculate, i would say even cleaner than some walmart or gas station restrooms.Overall would highly recommend camping at Black rock canyon campground.

Spectacular site further away from the bathrooms and ranger station so very little noise. Bathrooms were very clean. It gets dark even earlier here in the winter, because the sun hides behind some mountains before it officially sets, so plan your fires accordingly!

The site felt reasonably isolated from other campers, though we could still see/hear others. The bathrooms with running water and electricity were clean, fully functioning, and nearby. The firepit and picnic table were fine, the table and its benches were solid cement. We had no problem finding space to pitch a large tent (rated as 10 person). There was some light pollution for star gazing, being so close to town, but the stars were still spectacular.

Love this campground in Joshua Tree. Great trails near camp and easy access to the rest of the park. Love the flush toilets and easy access to water. Had moonless nights and thus the stars were amazing. I have stayed at this campground about 10 times and it never disappoints.

Black rock was a great campground with running water and flush toilets. The campground sites are not huge, so you won't be too far from neighbors, but spending most of the day in the park makes it a non-issue. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

Fun campground

I was surprised with how nice this campground is. The sites are not too close to each other, but a lot of people also didn't show up so we literally had little to no neighbors. Also close to some hiking trails if you don't want to go into the park. If I were to complain about something, bathrooms didn't have any towels, but this is all part of the camping experience! 10/10 would return here! Thanks Joshua Tree!!!
