The western part of Joshua Tree National Park is beautiful with many excellent trails. One could easily spend three or four days exploring the various trails close to this campground. There are several sites with plenty of space for larger RVs. While we enjoyed our stay at this campground, there is tremendous room for improvement. First, several of the sites are poorly defined. In addition, a bull dozer is needed to level some of the spots for RVs. Also, it would be nice to see the National Park Service pave the campground.When we reserved a site approximately two months before our arrival, there was only one site available for only two days, yet when we arrived, there were several (more than half) sites that were unoccupied the entire time of our stay. Something needs to be done to discourage people from reserving sites only to not show. A possible solution is to charge a penalty for those who don't show and don't cancel their reservations. Also, full refunds should be provided up to one month before arrival; 50% refund up to two weeks before arrival.

Absolutely horrible facilities. Men's toilets were as nasty as a on a cruise ship after a diarrhea epidemic. Women's wasn't much better. Skip this one.

Site 47. Nice campsite, spacious. Campground could use better signage to locate sites. Had to drive around on rutted roads with trailer to locate sites bathroom was in good condition and visitor center in campground was nice with friendly staff. Has dump station but found it by accident because of poor signage.

Absolutely loved our experience here. Our campground was very large and clean. The bathrooms were also very clean. Had a fun time going on the beautiful hikes right in the campground. The Joshua Trees are BEAUTIFUL. Although the roads are a bit bumpy, we had no issues at all - just drive slow and steady. Will definitely come back!

We arrived after dark and it was nearly impossible to find our space and get into it because the campground roads are not clearly marked. There was no entrance area or check in and so we finally drove around with our Google map on my phone and a flashlight outside to find our space. Very quiet and lovely in the morning. Nice level space, but so hard to find in the dark.

We had a very nice stay at Black Rock Campground. Beautiful place! Nice hiking trails. We did a drive-through loop of the park, and that was great. The only downside was the lady in the information center. She just wasn't very nice.

Campgrounds are clean and bathrooms cleaned daily. Roads throughout the campground are in need of total repair. They are in terrible condition and shape. All campsites need to be regraded level and improve drainage throughout.

Wonderful location where it is easy to make some hikes in the park. Our campground was a bit uneven and our levelling system could just handle this, next time we need some levelling blocks otherwise all good for this price.

This is a gorgeous campground and VERY rustic. I'm not sure when the flooding occurred but the roads are in very poor repair with washouts. Most campsites are unlevel, sloped for drainage at minimum, so be prepared for that. T-Mobile signal was minimal.

This is our second time camping here because it's a great location, beautiful & quiet surroundings plus great hiking trails. We enjoy exploring different parts of the park and towns nearby as well.as going to Desert Hot Springs for a soak.

Trails are poorly marked and campground roads are in dire need of repair. Great location for views and hikes. Toilets were well maintained.

Great campsite with nice trails. Nice space around your camp spot with big bench, fire pit and bbq. On site visitor centre had very good wifi. Close to shops of yucca valley and close to get into park. Would be good if campsite had washing up facilities. Would stay here again.

The camp is far from the entrance of the park and it is in very poor condition. Nothing interesting there.

Nice site close to the bathrooms (which were clean). We arrived late to try to avoid the heat so it was a little challenging to set up camp in the dark. The roads within the campground were deeply in need of repair; in fact they did have staff trying to fill in holes the day we left. We hiked a bit in the morning which was nice, but again too hot for a more extensive hike.

Clean and serene campsite. We went there in Spring break, and on our camping day here it was 26 mph wind. Make sure you have all gears. Bathrooms were clean. We hiked nearby trail. It was full moon day and we enjoyed the moonlight. We would camp here again.
@MaryH1910665 · Camped on Mar 3, 2022 at Campsite #47
Beautiful campground filled with Joshua Trees, but make sure you arrive before dark as there are craters in the campground road that are huge and few signs to help you find your campsite.
@JoeG6594421 · Camped on Jan 30, 2022 at Campsite #47
The campground would benefit from having the roads repaired and re-paved. But the rough roads do keep most vehicle speeds quite low. Most sites are uneven and will require the use of leveling blocks for most RVs.
@RonH289 · Camped on Dec 26, 2021 at Campsite #47
Roads need a lot of work and would be helpful if the campsites were marked out to better know your boundaries when you pull into camp.
