Great Campground with friendly rangers that check you in. Water sources and flushable toilets on the premises. Amazing to see some stars during the night. Startet from here to visit Joshua Tree the next day.

Beautiful campground filled with yoshua trees. Great views, nice and clean restrooms. We knew there were no showers but that would have been nice. Communications were very good in advance and on the campground but regulations were not kept and we ended up one night with people playing loud music till 1 am and having open fires on the campground despite the fireban. There was no host to turn to at the campground. The other two nights were nice and quiet with beautiful stars.

Great site! Beautiful views! Spacious site but close to others that you can hear them. Bathrooms were very clean, good lighting and not far from site, fire rings are pretty low so the desert wind kept blowing out my fire. Other than that, great experience! Highly recommend

I had a good time with my family. The night sky is especially beautiful. There are many trails around the campground, making it a great place for adventure.
First, Annie got a small thorn stuck in her head while playing near Joshua Tree, and had to come to her house to remove it. So my kid's nickname became 'the one who wears the Joshua tree in his hair'.

Great, spacious campsites.

Camp ground was beautiful. BUT they need to take a little time with a tractor and level some pads. Our little trailer was on an angle and really hard to try and cook in. If it were summer there would be no problem, but this time of year it was cold out side. So, we moved to an RV park near town for the next couple of days. The park was great I loved our visit.

Campground was very nice, very clean bathrooms! We went in the spring and the wind was kinda crazy at night, it was very quiet and the campsites were very spacious. but all in all it was a great trip! Showers would be nice but thats probably why they dont charge an entrance fee,and the hikes were amazing! The staff was great!

Black Rock is an excellent location to access many of the park’s featured sites.
In late March, it was very windy many days; bring appropriate gear (warm hat, neck warmth , mittens or gloves, layers & a windbreaker) to be warm in the morning. The greatest challenge is keeping a camp stove flame lit & protected from the wind. If you bring a backpacking stove, like me, fashion at home your own very tall windbreak. I had to hunker down behind a fire ring to improve my windbreak. Coleman stoves with fold-up lids seemed to be more successful.
In March & April, desert temps drop quickly when the sun goes down. Bring layers, including hats, gloves or mittens, and a neck gaiter or scarf.
Birders: watch for a flock of Pinyon Jays to fly over. Cactus Wrens & Western Scrub Jays are frequent visitors. Ask the ranger staff for more recommendations.

Large spaces and very clean campground. An easy drive to food spots and grocery stores.

Very clean restrooms, handy water, trash and recycling facility, great camp host and staff in general. Quiet, peaceful and wonderful birds! A very well run National Park.

It was nice to have flushing toilets and sinks available. There were many lovely trails to hike right out of the campground as well. The campsites were big and the hosts were very helpful

I loved the raw nature of Joshua Tree NP. Stargazing is delightful with evening campfires!

The site (#24) was spacious for our 20' trailer and pickup. There are neighbors nearby, but not right on top of you. You are camping right in the middle of Joshua Trees and the stars are magnificent. The site had a significant slope to the north and it took all 20 of our leveling blocks to get level. Not too bad since we were forewarned by other camping reviews. The dump station was easy to get into and relatively tidy. We will definitely return.

The Black Rock campground is situated a stone's throw away from Joshua Tree's entrance (about a 30-minute drive). The campground, northwest corner of the park, is very suitable for families and people using the site to eat and sleep. I wouldn't spend my days here because there is much more to do in the park. No showers, no electric or water hookups, and the bathrooms are fine. I would suggest Jumbo Rock over Black Rock if you want more of the Joshua Tree experience. If you have a caravan situation, campsite #21 is very big and can fit a few friends!
