Overall nice campground in a very scenic area. However, while there we experienced a lack of toilet paper in the mens restroom the entire time we were there, we left some for everyone when we departed. The lights in the restroom also were set on timers that didnt match the sunrise/sunset, with one tiny window, it made for dark conditions. Finally the parking. The campground is on a slope and the sites have not been leveled and have serious erosion rills and gullies due to lack of runoff controls. Made for leveling our rented RV quite difficult.

We enjoyed our trip and the hikes around this area. Its a bit of a drive into the main park area from here but a nice drive. With the limited generator hours it would be nice to have some electric site options, especially with long days out in the park, but we managed. It would also be helpful to have the roads be labeled and one way to help with the flow of traffic with big RVs. Our site was big and relatively flat (enough). Site 007.

Where to start? This was THE WORST campground Ive ever been to. Weve traveled from Canada to Mexico and from the Atlantic to the Pacific. I tried to take pictures, but the photos cannot capture the disaster of these roads and campsites. The campsites are washed out ruts. The roads are crumbling and holes that can damage your RV or car. The workers dont seem to care one way or another as long as they get their pay. Two camp hosts and both were off duty. Found the ranger sitting there smoking with the off duty camp host. The office though has a new coat of paint. The money allotted has NOT gone into maintenance. Ill put it in simple termsits a dump of a campground. No amenities, crumbling road, washed out rutted campsites. The only reason Im still here is because, surprise!.no refund policy. This place needs to be shut down for a major revamp.

Trails next to the park. The site was not leveled but we were aware when we reserved it.

Not for us. Too many restrictions

I really like this campground as it is close to town if you need anything or tired of camp food, lots of good restaurants. Also close to the entrances to Joshua Tree National Park. The trails that can be access from the campground are great as well. This campground can have high, gusty winds so be prepared. I have a tent trailer so always reserve a site with the pull through ability to save me from backing up.

We loved this site. It's close to everything. The town, shops and national park. It was a clean campground. Peaceful. Just perfect. Site 7 was great for our RV. The national park is beautiful and only about a 20 minute drive from this campsite. But also make sure to visit the Crochet museum, the bubble beauty salon museum, Pioneer Town, Pappy and Harriet's and all of the cute gift shops in Josua Tree.

The infrastructure of the campground is pretty bad. Most sites are quite unlevel.

I find Blackrock campground to be a very nice place to camp. Being close to Joshua Tree but far enough away to miss the park traffic. Also it has its own hiking and biking trails nearby.

We were a disappointed that the sites where so uneven and the road in the campground was filled with potholes. We were happy to have water and dump station! We would go stay again.

Joshua Tree National Park is starkly beautiful, with stunning views & diverse landscapes. Our campsite at the Black Rock campground was spacious & the facilities were clean & well maintained. The weather was mild with sunshine & blue skies throughout the day. The evenings were chilly but perfect for sitting around the campfire & stargazing. The campground was conveniently located for our daytime activities, which revolved around exploring the many short walks & nature trails throughout the park, including: Barker Dam, with its Native American petroglyphs; Cap Rock, a huge rock precariously perched atop a massive granite dome; Cholla Cactus Garden, with literally thousands of the natural growing cactus; Skull Rock, the parks signature rock formation with an amazing likeness of a human skull; Arch Rock, a natural rock arch resembling an elephant’s truck; Covington Flats with its grove of enormous Joshua trees & views of panoramic desert vistas from Eureka Peak; Hidden Valley Trail, winding through fantastic boulder formations; Hi-View Trail, an easy loop through a Joshua Tree forest to a lofty viewpoint overlooking the town of Yucca Valley; Indian Cove, lined with interpretive signs detailing various desert plants & their medicinal uses; Keys View provides sweeping views of the Coachella Valley. A highlight of our visit was the ranger-guided Keys Ranch tour, offering insightful facts about the park's mining, homesteading & cattle ranching past. We're looking forward to returning to the park soon with family & friends!

Loved the campground and we're going back in two weeks. It had been years since we'd camped, and we found our sleeping bags didn't provide enough warmth for the high desert nights. Now we have new ones and we're on the road again.
