Its always a pleasure to stay at Black Rock Campground. The facilities are excellent, especially the availability of potable water, which is rare in Joshua Tree NP. The proximity to Yucca Valley fills in any facility gaps as well. Black Rock Campground is one of my favorite places to stay when I visit Joshua Tree NP.

Appreciated the campground amenities. But etiquette was lacking. Folks were walking through other people's campsites (including ours) to go to the bathroom and get water. Two groups near us were playing music during quiet hours, and one group was particularly loud during quiet hours. Another group left plastic water jugs unsecured such that they blew across the campgrounds (and weren't retrieved) when high winds occurred. And another group of kids tried taking absent campers' firewood without permission.

It was an outstanding experience, especially for a first-time camper like me. Flushing toilets, proximity to the Nature Center, and the camping ground not too far away from the city were added benefits. It would have been nice if the fellow campers were quieter in the middle of the night - some monitoring there would have been nice. One of the generators was on in the middle of the night, which was annoying.

Black Rock campground is WAY to crowded due to the close spacing of the sites. Our neighbors were less than 10 feet from us on both sides. You need to build more campsites at Joshua Tree. Obviously people love to camp here.

My stay at Black Rock Campground was lovely. Though there are no showers, the campground has running water, bathrooms, and cell service which was helpful as I did try to get a bit of work done on data while visiting. Overall, the space is really nice, and the campground is connected to some interesting trails, which are really as long or short as you'd like your hike to be. Do note that it can get quite windy in the area, and chilly overnight - so much so that a hot day can feel quite cold at the site - so make sure to bring layers!

Pretty packed and difficult to navigate via car. Very windy at end of April. But a nice campsite

Clean, fairly level campsites, with cell coverage and near town of Yucca Valley. Easy to go into town for dinner or forgotten items. Clean bathrooms and visitor center with lots of information. Went with little kids and found a few easy trails to hike over the weekend.

Campsite was tidy, reasonably quiet, and the bathrooms were immaculate, with running water and scented air freshener. Thoroughly enjoyed my night there.

My first Joshua tree camp was very good landscape! It was very winy and cold night, but the surroundings were quit. And it was a very safe place. Thank you!

Black Rock is a short drive away from the main gates of Joshua Tree NP (although it is technically in the park boundaries.) We found fun hikes that started right in the campground. The facilities were clean and our site was spacious with good flat spaces to pitch a tent. The atmosphere was peaceful and everyone observed quiet hours during our stay.

All the Joshua trees were in bloom. It was beautiful. The campground was very relaxing even though it was fully booked.

The campsite is right on the edge of the park, about 30-45' to major attractions. However it is super clean, probably the cleanest campsites I've ever been to, and has many hiking trails around it.It was in Yucca Valley, so you'll be surrounded by millions of Yucca trees and zillion stars. Very unique and beautiful. We went on the Labor day weekend, it was the hottest weekend of the year. There were deadly heat warnings every where. So long as you avoid the too hot season, it is a wonderful campsite!
