West Side Loop trail was beautiful (4.7 miles) and the trailhead is right on the campground. Bathrooms were clean and staff friendly. No electric hook-ups or showers. Very peaceful.

Great place for camping & hiking & stargazing.Just be careful for the cold. Nights are freezing cold during Thanksgiving.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Black Rock CG. The bathrooms were clean (though heads up - you need to bring your own hand soap). Hikes are available directly out of the campground and there are many Joshua Trees that make great subjects as the sun is setting. The stars were amazing.

A tired campground that needs grading improvements to the sites. It is difficult to find a level spot to pitch a tent. There are a lot of ruts everywhere, and the pavements is in very poor condition.Good picnic table and new BBQ grill.

This campground needs work. The roads need to be fixed BADLY. we were lucky to have a fairly level site with a bunch of room, but most sites could use improvement. Great location though! I really enjoyed the joshua trees and the stars/moon at night.

Facilities were clean. Roads and campsites were heavily eroded and not flat.

This park is beautiful but this campground is in serious need of improvement! The roads leading to the campsites are full of deep potholes and broken up asphalt. They are potentially dangerous for vehicles without higher clearance. Our campsite, 95, was very nice with a beautiful view, and staff at the park are great. The scenic road through the park is fine. Its just the campground roadsmajor issue!

Clean bathrooms, large, flat, back in campsite for our small trailer, truck and tent. Firepit and separate bbq provided. The campsite is on a separate road from the main park entrance but is easily accessed and theres hiking and boulders right by the campground as well.

The roads in the campground are so bad...it is literally a challenge to figure out which are roads and which are ditches for run off. Please fix your roads...worst I have ever seen in any campground.

Easy check in and clean bathrooms. Many trails to have fun for all ages. Would recommend this campground and have already booked another visit.

I would not recommend this campground. So confusing to arrive there at night. The map is in the back of the campground, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for any of the numbering. I was so frustrated I just wanted to leave. Luckily I found my campsite, despite no one being there at the campground store/center.

I enjoyed this campground. I had just spent 2 nights at Ryan Campground and although that campground is closer to the sights, I preferred Black Rock. Firstly it was only 20% full, which was a bonus. Cell phone service was strong, and most importantly, there is a trail to a ridge that I could take from the campground with my dog. It was off the NP land, but right next to it. At night the coyotes howled up a storm!
The bathrooms were spacious, clean, and had flushable toilets with sinks and soap for good hand washing. The staff was friendly and helpful. I came in the middle of May, just past the high season, when the weather was warming up into the high 80's to low 90's during the day and the high 40's-50's at night.
Oh, and there is a dump station (I didn't use it so I cannot comment on it) and water!
My only negative was the site itself was extremely unlevel. I didn't have enough blocks with me to get a decent level in. I wandered around the campground and looks like most of the sites are not level.
I highly recommend this campground.

The campground is nice, sites are spacious, facilities clean, location convenient. Hosts were friendly at first then they had some strange demands about not lighting trees with colored lights. I understand not disturbing wildlife and whatnot but the restrooms were blinding bluish white compared to the red light we had. Still, the park is worth the visit but somewhat disappointing

I have been traveling four months now and this was my least favorite campground in Four months ! The sites are very close together and rough. The road around camp is horrendous and needs immediate improvement. I did not use bathrooms as I have 13’ scamp which is self contained. The dump station had no garbage cans or dumpster. Not even a small can for used rubber gloves. The provided water hose was about 3-4 foot to short to even reach the dump hole. If anyone had an accident with sewage spilling it would be close to impossible to clean. Add the very poor water pressure and it’s a stinky mess waiting to happen! The park staff were friendly and helpful.
