I dont understand the complaint about the roads, just drive carefully and youll be fine. It is a little hard to find the sites, but just set up navigation from the app and it will take you right to it. Beautiful location and the grounds were maintained throughout the shutdown. Neighbors are a very close at this site and it is hard to find a level spot for even a small tent.

Stayed at Black Rock Campground, Joshua Tree National Park. Campsites are too close together. Campers had fires where screens were not on the fire and sparks were going in to dry brush. The next day after we left they had a fire. i went to the office at 8am the next morning to let them know about the fires that people were having and the wind that was spreading sparks. That morning there was a fire near the campground and I was called to see if I had evacuated.Campers have no common sense I guess. I did tell the people at the campsite across from us that they should at least put the screen on. Sparks were coming through the screen too. The park did not have rangers to check on the campfires in the evening. Also there were no lights around the bathroom and in the bathroom and two out of three sinks were not working. I reported this to the office.Seems like the park needs better management but they could be short on staff. Was a bit disappointed and the campfire situation was very dangerous (in my opinion).

Awesome location right next to the visitors center and walking distance to the shops and restaurants at the resort. Easy access to site and plenty of room to maneuver.

Campground requires maintenance badly. Paved roads all broken.

First the negative part - I didn't find the sign of the campground from main highway. Once you reach the campground, it was very difficult to find the campsite because there are no signs to show where to go for that particular site and the roads of the campground are in very bad condition with lot of potholes. Also, the site I had was sloped. Good part is that site was clean and toilet were also very clean. Enjoyed the coyotes howling at night. Close to city, so you can go and bring any missing supplies. Also, National Park Entrance pass is not required.

It is a shame that one of the most scenic and conveniently located campgrounds for Joshua Tree NP is also perhaps the most poorly maintained. Not only is the signage to find your campsite non-existent but the roads are a disaster to drive on with deep huge potholes that can cause severe damage to cars, vans and trailers. I understand that flash floods are to blame as well as overuse due to its proximity to LA, but perhaps the campground should closed until repairs are made.

Roads were very rutted and site was not level enough to use a small RV on.

Great camping site! It's a little inconvenient that it's not deep into the park, but the place is really clean, spacious, and comfortable. Would definitely camp there again.

why is this required to rate?

It was a nice campground. My only regret was that it was an hour away from the jumbo rocks. Next time will camp closer
