Busy and seemingly not really in the Park but it worked for a place to land on the first night.

Location is convenient to reaching areas of interest in the park. Exhibits in the park are signs providing a wealth of interesting information about park geology, flora, and fauna. Campground restrooms were clean and stocked.

Very nice site with hiking trails starting at the campground and clean bathrooms!

Overall an awesome area to camp - the oh so beautiful Joshua Trees are EVERYWHERE! Campsite staff were friendly and helpful. We learned not to reserve a site near the restrooms next time- our fellow campers were totally ignorant of Campsite Etiquette, and continuously trampled a path next to our Camper Van ALL NIGHT LONG. Unbelievable, since it would have actually been the same distance, if not shorter, to use the pavement! The roads all around the sites are pretty rough, which is actually a good thing since everyone drove very slowly and carefully because of that.

This is the best campground for Joshua Tree National Park, in my opinion. For me, flushing toilets and running water were a big plus. There is also very strong cell service and actual WiFi on the patio of the Nature Center. None of these is available inside the park. It is above the town of Yucca Valley at some additional elevation which provides a few degrees of coolness from the heat down below. The only negative comment I have is that the "roads" in the campground are all washed out and are almost non-existent. They really could use some work. It was really hard to find my specific site when I first got there.

A rather small campsite, but we were still able to accommodate 2 two-person tents. We drove a Toyota Corolla and it looks like there is no space for another regular size car. You may be able to fit a motorcycle there if someone in your party has one. It was very windy at night (we went during the last weekend of April). Conveniently next to the bathroom. We had full cell reception, which was very unusual for me since I usually am completely cut off from outside world when I go camping. But it is great for if you need to work remotely and want to talk a call from your cell phone. No need to pay the park entrance fee when you come to this campground. If you want to visit the national park itself, you will need to go out to Yucca Valley and enter from a different entrance. There you will need to pay the park entrance fee or show them your park passes.

It was very windy at night and made it challenging to sit in front of the campfire and enjoy the night. It also happened to be the time when the moon was waning towards a full moon, so the dark sky was too bright for stargazing. In the future, I hope to go earlier in April or perhaps in early May around the time of a new moon and before the desert gets too hot. Otherwise, the weather was perfect during the day (70s-80s F with regular cool breeze). There are some trails very close to the campsite so you can always go for a short afternoon hike after you arrive at the campground and finish pitching your tent.

Its a bit rocky and open, the campgrounds in the park are nicer if you are sleeping in a tent. This campground is nearest to town, however so you can run to the Walmart if you need to.

Nice campground with lots of amazing hikes. FYI the campground, while in the National Park is not directly connected , you have to drive back into town and then 11 miles down the road before you get to the main park entrance.

Black Rock is a good experience for camping. It does get noisy at night, especially on weekends since groups come up there to party. This particular weekend was not as noisy as usual.

Nice campground a bit outside the NP, with a view over the valley. It has all the principal facilities.
