First time staying in the Blackrock campground. Had a great experience, and would highly recommend it. Nice to be in the park but and have access to hiking trails without the need to drive in the busy main gate. We will be back.

Nice campground with nice staff. The roads and signage (for sites and trails) need improvement. The bathrooms were nice. The trails are awesome from this campsite. We had a reservation for site 75 but it was basically a tiny tiny area sandwiched between two others. We got online and reserved 91 and that was a great site with a larger area and across from the bathrooms.

Pros: The location convenient to west Joshua Tree attractions, including some of the best hiking trails, which is why we chose it. Compared to most campgrounds, the fee is extremely reasonable, especially if you are a senior with a Golden Age pass. It had what we needed - proximity to the park and trails. We got a site with a view of the valley and were only about a block from the trailhead.

Cons: Sites are hard gravel and not at all level. It was a challenge to find a spot to pitch a tent, and even RV campers were having difficulty leveling their vehicles. Our site was located between two related party groups, and they made a huge amount of noise and used our site as a footpath between. Sites are very close together with little separation, and roads are not well maintained, with rocks, bumps, and potholes. It's a confusing layout at best, even with the map, The office staff was completely unhelpful at check in, telling us to "go find your site" and "google nearby gyms" if you are looking for a shower.

Great campground. Clean, well maintained and staff are very kind and courteous.

Nice campground with lots of Joshua Trees, but attracts plenty of disrespectful and rowdy people who don't observe quiet hours. Tried calling a few phone numbers from the website but nobody picked up, so quiet hours aren't enforced.

Stayed at site 91 and enjoyed our stay. The bathrooms were close by and were very clean. The sites are close together, but everyone observed quiet hours. We would stay here again.
