The facilities were ok, although bathrooms could have been cleaner and one was without light. But the main problem was inconsiderate campers who were too loud. Yes, quiet time is 10pm and by then it was pretty quiet, but I think anytime after 8pm should be "limited noise" ie quiet talking that doesn't disturb neighbors, and certainly NOT children running all over and screaming. When all other tents around a noisy campsite are dark and quiet, people should know that their neighbors are trying to sleep. Thanks to pleasant office staff who were very nice even if not well informed. One ranger was knowledgable and gave great info.

The area is beautiful and quite busy. James the camp host is a true gem, from making regular rounds, answering questions, to simply being a very good soul.

Incredible restrooms, one of the best I've seen camping anywhere. Site is windy compared to other sites in the park, something to keep in mind. Campground ranger was on top of all campers about trash maintenance which is understandable but failed to enforce quiet hours two consecutive nights even after mentioning it after the first night. Wasn't too bad just loud music until about 2am. Overall nice place, prefer more campsites with level ground, lots of sloping sites.

A wonderful location and outlook, but sadly run down, and not well maintained.

I camp a lot and I found Black Rock campground a very beautiful but poorly organized campground. There are a number of camground loops and no signage to guide campers to the appropriate numbered site. Trial and error driving around on poorly maintained roads is how we found our spot. Again having camped in hundreds of state and federal sites over the years found myself a bit embarrassed how Black Rock presented itself to travelers.

I wouldn't stay here again. I ended up cancelling my remaining nights. The sites were too close together, small and little to no flat ground for my tent. I was honestly worried about getting a flat tire in those major potholes and rough road.

Couldnt find a map online so had to wander around the campground looking for our spot until we found one at the main building, roads were absolute trash Ive seen better roads on blm land. Our spot was in a wash and wasnt level and when Im paying for a campsite it needs to be level and have decent roads. Also we were freezing the whole time which is our own fault but definitely wouldnt stay here in the winter again

This campground is situated outside of the main park but is much closer to the town of Yucca Valley yet very quiet. We didn’t know what to expect when we made this reservation but we were pleasantly surprised by this nice facility with flush toilets, sizable campsite (#87), and rocky desert scenery. There are several hiking trails from the campground too so you don’t have to drive to the main park. And there are some sites that offer shades during warmer seasons.

The pictures dont do it justice!! Such a beautiful campsite. With the some great trails near by. Careful of arriving after dark. Several people damage their vehicles on the rock barriers. Saw blue jays and coyotes!!

Beautiful, clean, spacious, quiet, with bright sunny days -- couldn't ask for more. The nights were very cold, which made the whole experience interesting.

This campground was awesome. This was my first time camping here, and my first camping alone as a single female. I felt completely safe, and everything was really clean. The bathrooms were really clean (even better than other public restrooms) and my site was clean as well. I brought all my own water, but there was potable water accessible, as well as a firepit and picnic table. The main building had friendly/helpful staff and they answered all my questions. They had lots of information both about the camp and Joshua Tree. I also went on the High-View Nature Trail (which started at the camp), and it was gorgeous! I loved the views from the camp, and overall had a great experience. I have already recommended this place to friends, and would totally stay here again. I loved it! The only thing is, at the time, they were not selling firewood so be sure to bring your own if you want to have a campfire.
