I would just recommend that if a campsite is not level that it be shown or communicated to a potential client before the reservation is made, rather than after. We had a good time. Everyone respected the hours of operation for generators. The facilities were clean.

Great campsite. Water was close by and the bathrooms were well kept.

My site itself was pretty big and nice however the site was super hard to find at night. Wish there were signs with some lighting to give drivers a way to more easily find the site after dark.

Beautiful location with access to cell service and gas and groceries. However, its further away from the park entrances and important areas in the park.

Black Rock campground provides wonderful bathrooms with flush toilets and running water! The campsites are well spread out and theres a visitor center right onsite. There are also nice hikes that start right at camp, especially the panorama trail.

Camped in space 071. The site was one of the larger sites I saw, easily fit our two vehicles and large tent. Restrooms were clean and stocked. We went on a day that had low number of reservations so the campground was somewhat empty. Site 071 has a bit of buffer so that we were not on top of other camp sites, which was nice. Although we could not take our dogs on the National Park trails, there were plenty of roads in the campground to give them a good walk. We totally enjoyed our experience.

Campsite is big, enough to fit 3-4 tents. Restrooms were close by and clean. Trash and water was also close by. Rangers do not check the sites often as there was a fire restriction but saw multiple sites using their fire pits throughout the day. Either in the morning or long throughout the night. Also, multiple different sites were loud all night. One night had a site being loud until midnight and another night had another site being loud until around 4am. I would recommend bringing some earplugs or noise cancelling headphones. About 40 minutes to get to the north entrance of the park. It can also get really windy.

Staff were very nice and efficient but site is dismal. Uneven pads, no recycling bins. Restrooms cleaned maybe every 3 days? No showers. Far from park entrance. No enforcement of rules -- people running their generator through the night.

Black rock camp ground is one of the only two campsites that has water - this is really important in the vast national park of Joshua Tree. The other campground that has water is at the other end of Joshua tree - Cottonwood campground. Camp sites were big in size to accommodate 2 cars easily and fix 2-3 tents. These camp sites are much bigger that the Jumbo Rock campground sites (not to mention the Jumbo rock camp ground also doesn't have water).Black rock campground is NOT inside the Joshua Tree national park but is very close to it. One can easily get to Joshua tree national park with a 10min drive from Black Rock camp ground. If you get bored of the campsite - which is kind of hard - as the Joshua trees are in abundance here and the open sky glitters with stars - you can always get out to the Yucca valley art stores, bars and restaurants.I would highly recommend this campsite!! The temperatures can vary quite a bit though - this is true for any desert area!!

This campground is not in the park, but it's nearby. The view from the campsite overlooks the valley and is amazing, and the campsites themselves are well spread apart so you feel like you have a good amount of your own space. The campground has firepits at every site, bathrooms with potable water, and a water dump/refill for RV's. There are also nice hikes from the campground itself. Anyway. We loved our time there, it was quiet and the desert and night sky were amazing and we will be going back.

Lots of trails right from this campground. Less crowded than other parts of the park.

The destination was great! Came with enough room for our two cars as well as our two 4-person tents, but there was plenty of room for more. The site contains in open fire pit and a picnic table that could seat 6 people comfortably. This location is in very close proximity to Wal-Mart and Yucca Valley in general, so if you forget anything you need for camping it's only a 10 minute drive back into town at the most. The campsite provides restrooms with running water and toilet paper (1-ply sandpaper), but no hand soap or paper towels! In general the campsites are spaced far enough apart where your voices won't carry far from it unless people are actually yelling. We could not hear our neighbors (and hopefully we weren't a bother to them either). The views from the campsite itself aren't spectacular, but you'll be able to see the nearby mountains and the expanse of desert that stretches to the north with Joshua Trees scattered here and there. Keep in mind that this campsite is not really connected to the rest of the park via road. It's about a 20 minute trip (12 miles) to reach the Joshua Tree National Park gates from the campsite. The park itself is what really has the nice views and hiking trails that you're looking for. I highly recommend this campsite for the amenities it provides and it's proximity to the town and park. When we went during December 2019 ALL of the first come first serve campsites were taken (as we expected) which is why it was nice to know that we were able to reserve this campsite instead of worrying about whether or not we'd even have one.

We really enjoyed our experience at Black Rock. It was quiet, the rangers were all very nice. We will definitely be back!
