We have been here several times, and each time is great. Good access to trails. Staff in office are helpful. Looks like some of the roads in the campsite have been recently improved. Note this place gets very busy at the weekends (we avoid the weekends)

Great spot. Easy to access and nice site layout. An excellent loop hike from the camp lets you experience both the desert vibe and a good climb to walk the ridge line is rewarded with fantastic views of the landscape. Suits all group types, including families with young kids. Good way to get an easy slice of Joshua Tree

The campsites are not well marked and 'haphazard' ... some are better than othersNo campsites are level and access may be limited for larger vehiclesBathrooms are cleanWater faucets may be located near (or at) campsites ... so many people wander through your site for water

Great campsite just at the entrance to the campground. The road to the site is decent however getting water or emptying tanks the road is horrible. In all (other than road) the campground is nice and clean.

We enjoyed exploring the area and the park. The roads in Black Rock Campground leave something to be desired. Some have recently been repaved, while others are seriously rutted. Some campsites are spacious while others are small and have serious erosion.

We spent only one night at the campground and enjoyed our stay. The sites are good with decent spacing and relatively level. You will have RV and van neighbors so you should expect some generator noise but all were respectful and shutdown in the evening. The facilities were clean and the staff was friendly helpful. We would stay here again.

Very interesting location. On site wifi, water and sani dump. Although the sani dump was $20 quite a bit more than the norm. Pleasant staff. Nice info centre. Lots of room for various size rigs and nice tent sites.

We visited Joshua Tree NP a couple years ago. We went on a 2 hikes from the Black Rock Campground. Throughly enjoyed it. We only had 2 days to go through the park and new then we would need to come back. This time we stayed 4 nights at Black Rock Campground as our base. We leisurely explored the park this time and since we now had a jeep we could go on some of the backroads too.

The camping spots are large and mostly level - no wall to wall RVs. The hiking trails are great. Cool weather in March is nice. The camp host was pleasant. We will be back.

The volunteers were friendly and helpful, but the employee in the office was a bully. The campground is in severe disrepair with huge gulleys and washed out roads. The traffic travels at a very high rate of speed for a campground: it felt like I was camping on a main road. Many of the day-visitors come into the campground creating excessive traffic. No lights in the rest room; no soap to wash hands in the rest room; no way to dry hands in the rest room.

The environment is not dog friendly. Cactus and stickers really limit their activity. Some sites require maneuvering in order to level your RV. The views were awesome, having reception was advantageous, staff was extremely helpful and pleasant.

This campground is in a great location, near enough to Joshua Tree NP, yet still quiet. The campsite was not level, which we expected and could still manage just fine with our 35-foot fifth wheel trailer. We were glad that there was at least the one site that could accommodate our longer trailer. The asphalt roads within the campground are in pretty bad shape - we could navigate OK, but I wonder how long before they deteriorate such that it's difficult to move a trailer through the campground. We did not use the bath house, so cannot comment on their condition.

Loved this campground! Sites are spacious with lots of Joshua trees and plant life that offer some privacy from neighbors. Bathrooms are well maintained and it’s nice that there’s easy water access within the campground. We did the west side loop trail and it was awesome - perfect for an early morning hike before it got too hot. Would definitely come back here!

we were able to snag two spots here, after not thinking we would have a chance to stay at an established Joshua Tree Campground (sadly dispersed camping in the area is really lacking)! its a spacious campground, with real toilets (but no paper towels or hand dryers), water spigots, picnic tables, fire rings, hiking trails and even a little gift shop (with cancelation stamps, if you have a parks passport)! dog friendly too! some beautiful views and lots of joshua trees! site #67 is huge, with some nice shade from the joshua trees. site #85 is much narrower, with less shade, but still lovely views. we wish they had showers, more level campsites, and an access road directly into the park (you have to drive through the west entranceits about a 15-20 min drive).

Beautiful location, roads were in need of repair but all very passable. Facilities were well maintained, but no heaters so a can get a bit chilly in the winter months. Sites also well maintained and each one seems like a unique setting! You are camping in among the Joshua trees!!

What a gorgeous site (120) had the loop all to myself, low season. A really beautiful area- and the stars were incredible.

Nice campground. Our site was large enough for our 5th wheel trailer with space to spare. It is unfortunate that the campground is not connected to Joshua Tree NP. It was about a 20 minute drive to get into the park.

Much prettier campground than I was expecting. I have seen Joshua Trees before, but these were huge! The campsite we landed in, N0. 67, was quite large and afforded great parking. It was desert lanscape, but very nice. We camped in a 30 foot 5th wheel.

The rangers were very helpful. The campground was clean and each campsites was clearly identified. Our campsite was large which allowed our 19' RV to be easily maneuvered into a leveled position.

The campground has numerous hiking trails. The views from the Panarama Loop Trail and the Warren Peak are amazing.
