The road to the campsites on the outer loop was really a 4 wheel drive road - stick to the inner sites where the road has been redone.

Everything was clean, the vibe was quiet and peaceful, the facilities were running well. This site is close-ish to Yucca Valley, so the stargazing isn't quite as good as when you're in the heart of the park or closer to the Mojave preserve, but it's useful for if you forget anything and need to run to the store. :)

Really nice views and trails. Some of the roads have some potholes, which if you arrive during the day, they are easy to avoid, We arrived at night, so we couldn't see very well. This is not a good idea.

The roads throughout the campground were in horrible shape. The sites were inferior to Ryan and Indian Cove campgtounds. AVOID!

We were birding at morongo basin. About 20 minutes away.
Our campsite accomodated our group well.
We will be back next year.

099 is a great spot overlooking scenery. I was able to fit my 21 ft class B no problem. You'll want a way to level the vehicle.

only complaint is the roads need to be replaced.

Beautiful area, but the roads throughout the campground are in dismal shape.Restrooms okay and it is generally quiet.

I think this is one of the most scenic campgrounds in the entire park if you came here for the namesake Joshua Trees. The roads are very rough, so be prepared, but thats because of the multi-billion dollar maintenance backlog burdening all parks that Im sure youve heard of.I heard the coyotes all night, and sunrises and sunsets both are incredible here. The camp hosts (The Burnells) were incredibly kind and helpful, probably some of the best to serve at our public lands. Ranger Janice was a delight!

This was our first visit to Joshua Tree, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The Black Rock campground was perfect for our 19' (total length) TT. Also, after touring the park and checking other camp spots, Black Rock is going to be our go-to.

Black Rock campgrounds are very scenic with nice trail heads nearby. No shade and plenty of wind and sun making for a nice desert experience.

I love this campground. I do not love the people who ignore the pet rules and turn their dogs loose and allow them to run around off leash. This was my fourth visit this season. Each visit I have encountered off leash dogs who harassed my on leash dogs.

I love the spaces in the 90’s by the service road. This area backs up to open desert. I always see coyotes running around on the service road. They seem to avoid people, but they definitely pose a threat to dogs who are allowed to run off leash.

Great NPS campground. Facilities were clean, camp host even gifted us with a bundle of firewood. Most people were wearing masks when venturing away from their site.

My four year old would like to speak to management about the excess wind. She’s not a fan. /s

Really run-down site. Roads are in need of serious work. There is a dumpsite which is good. The area is quiet and sites at higher levels can have a decent view.

Black Rock Campground is my favorite in JTNP. I choose the perfect site which looks out directly to the trails and I have an unobstructed view of the sky.Unfortunately, the bathroom closest to my campsite was closed for maintenance when the campground was full. I had to downgrade my review for that issue.

This is a beautiful spot. Water and dump facilities are good. Really close to town if you need to stock up or replenish everything.

I was surprised of the cost to visit the park.
