Great Campground for a family with small children! Restrooms were always clean and fully stocked!

Although the campsites are really close together, the large bushes and trees help provide some privacy. The flush toilets/bathrooms were very clean (which I didn't exactly expect), although the lights in the women's when I went didn't work so I had to use a headlamp in the night. Fellow campers were respectful of being quiet in the night and the campground was very peaceful. Most people leave during the day to go into the park's main areas, so if you stay at camp when the sun's out you're pretty much on your own. The little shop was nice too! Rangers were on top of keeping things in good shape, we had a guy come out one morning to weld our neighbor's broken fire pit. The entire campground is pretty much on a hill so keep that in mind when you're setting up your tent. There are a couple of nice hikes in walking distance to the campground but definitely be up for driving into town and then entering one of the main park entrances to get to other hikes and scrambling.

Great spot for checking out the park! This area was filled with a ton of Joshua Trees and after seeing other campgrounds when exploring the park, this one was definitely the best one. Also a plus were the flushable toilets (but no showers unfortunately).

I think there were only two things nice about the campsite was (1) it’s the first campsite as you’re going to Joshua Tree NP, and (2) is that it there was restroom facilities (flushable toilets and sinks with soap dispensers). However, the pitfalls with Black Rock is that the roads are horrible (now I don’t mind dirt roads, but these paved roads were bad), there were no clear directions on where the campsites were, in the sense of sites 1-20 this way and so on and so forth, there were no site that had a flat surface to put a tent, and the sites were weirdly placed, the site that I was at was what it felt like was on the other side of the double camp site. So I’ll just stay at Indian Cove.

The check in process was quick and easy. The ranger at the office was helpful and gave us a map with must see places. There is a small gift shop inside the registration building where we got our must get stickers and magnets from every national park we visit. Bathrooms are clean and within a short walking distance of most sites. The sites are cleaned by a volunteer group after campers leave so there was no trash when we arrived. Campground rules of quiet after 10 were abided by the fellow campers around us. This campground is a short drive from the entrance to the National Park and from grocery stores and restaurants if you forgot to pack something. This was our first time to Joshua Tree NP and out first time to Thai campground but we will definitely be returning!

I love love love this campsite. People super friendly, everything was very clean and the check in was easy to find, as well as the campsites, with the provided map.

Beautiful sky and close to hiking. They had only booked every other campsite so it felt very safe for Covid.

Make sure you check in. Poorly marked campground sites

I enjoyed my stay at this campground. There are Joshua trees in each site. There’s running water and a nicely maintained bathroom. There are a couple trailheads that start here. Additionally, the nearest entrance is about a 20-30 minute drive! Not bad for running water and being on the edge of town versus other sites where you have to bring in ALL water or travel 30+ minutes to get into town

Will consider camping here again for sure
