Our campsite that we reserved #119 was not described correctly. We had a large tent. The site said it was appropriate for it. The site had a large parking area, but was on a slanted hill and had no room for even a small tent. Fortunately the campground had very few occupants, so the hosts arranged for us to occupy a different, suitable site for our large tent. It was site 86 - gorgeous, with a nice flat area for our tent and near the beautiful stream. We even caught fish near our new site. When we arrived on Friday, Sept. 17, the entire campground and surrounding mountains were filled with smoke. It was terrible. It lasted until late Saturday afternoon. We had driven 350 miles after I received an email that the campground was reopened. The campground probably should not have remained closed. The air quality was terrible and we had headaches. The air did clear partially by late Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning was beautiful, but by then, we had to leave. The campground hosts were great - very helpful.

The campground, campsites, and restrooms were very clean. The site we stayed in was surrounded by beautiful pine trees and we were feet away from the beautiful creek. My only complaint was the misinformation we got from the “maintenance manager” regarding the policies of the campground. This man was very dry and hostile towards us. We were told we couldn’t stay at a first come first serve site although we were first to arrive, and demanded we move or get moved. He even threatened us with calling local authorities. We had been camping in the Eastern Sierras all our lives and are pretty familiar with how things work, but he wasn’t budging. We proved the man wrong and he decided to leave us alone. We’re typically not people to complaint but felt the need to say this because it felt good to be right because of his harassing behavior. I recommend to anyone that goes here or any other state ran campground, know the policies and don’t let people like this man try to intimidate you. Besides this little encounter, we had an awesome campground manager, and we got to see 3 bear roaming the sites!
