This wonderful campsite is perfect for large groups or one family that wants a large, private area. The site follows the creek around a curve and you can cross a large fallen tree in the creek to get to a small meadow. We went in late September and in the morning there was a light mist on the creek and once it burned off we saw dozens of small-medium fish through the crystal clear water. You could easily fish along the banks. There are 5 large bear boxes, 4 picnic tables, and 3 fire pits with a ton of spaces for tents, hammocks, chairs, etc. The walk from the parking area to the closest fire pit and bear box was only 30 seconds or so, and the farthest area from the parking was about 2-3 minutes walk. The bathroom was very clean and close to the parking area. We had a light rain our first night and temps dropped to about 30. After that nights were in the low 40s. There isn't much traffic on the road where the parking is, but you are close enough to the Bishop Creek Lodge in case you run out of firewood, water, or want to grab a drink.

Gorgeous site along Bishop creek but we had to leave early because we were eaten alive by mosquitos. It may have been the result of so much rain last year. If it weren't for the mosquitos I would give it 5 stars. Well maintained site, beautiful setting.

This campsite is gorgeous and we had a great time hiking the trails from South Lake. We enjoyed the nesting ducks at the camp. Our sadness came from the fact that the last camper before us had mutilated the Aspen trees (the damage was very fresh) and there appears to be no oversight of the campground, sometimes no cleaning of the toilet between users, as in this case, and no rangers around to check things out. The campers before us also had BB guns and there were pellets around. There needs to be oversight!

The camp is beautiful, and hiking from South Lake to Bishop Pass, or from Lake Sabrina is fabulous.
