The grounds were clean. And plenty of shade.

Nice little campground right next to the Kearsarge Pass trailhead. There are both walk-in sites and drive-up sites, No water in the campground, bathrooms are clean, pit toilets.

Incredible scenery on the drive in. Clean and well-maintained aside from the road within the campsite which was a bit rutted, but no issue for our SUVs (I wouldn’t bring a low-rider). Large bear box, in good shape. Clean vault restrooms. Campsite not perfectly flat but close enough. I appreciated the deep and level fire pit - able to stack lots of wood in there without embers flying off, and we cooked dinner on it without our skillet being too uneven. Super easy to find. Lots of rocks on the road in, as the signs warned, so drive carefully and you’re fine. Stunning scenery but not for those with fear of heights. We camped in late October right before end of season and got a dusting of snow, and 16° overnight. No cell service for AT&T or Verizon, but that’s not why you come here is it? You can get service by driving 10 minutes back down the hill toward town. Bring your own firewood, buy it in town in Independence.

Beautiful area, sites were small for a trailer with difficult access and level. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and hiking the area.

1st off, Onion Valley campsites are awesome! Easy access from the 395 to the eastern Sierra backcountry. Campsites are well maintained and the vault bathrooms were clean and organized. There was no running water on my visit (8/23/22) but there were water bibs for when water is available. The sites were varied, meaning that some would accommodate my 6-person family tent while others would definitely not. Site#11 was big/flat enough for us. Some sites are "walk-in" so pay attention to that while selecting site #. This was my 3rd stay here and will be back again.

An excellent location, but that's where the good news ends. Many sites at this campground have no flat areas for tents. Some have overgrown, and have no space for anything other than a very small tent. Perhaps that explains why almost every site at the campground was reserved, most for multi-day stays, yet three quarters of the campground remained empty during the night we spent there. People came, looked at where they were supposed to stay, and left.

Great campground! Beautiful views of the mountains and great access to the trails. Site 011 was perfect and quite private too, and allows you to park right at the site. Make sure to bring your own water, although there is a creek if you want to filter water or cool off a bit.

Beautiful campsite. Was surprised there was no piped water. There are taps, but they are dry

Beautiful campsite and trails. Perfect place to acclimate due to high elevation.

We loved this campground! It was really nice this time of year to fall asleep to the sound of the waterfall up on the hill. Although there is no running water at the campground, the creek is flowing great all around the campground, so bring a filter bottle or system so you can drink right from the streams!

It's really a shame how many people reserve sites at this campground and don't bother to show up. It seems like at least half of the campsites near us were reserved but empty, even on Friday & Saturday nights. Please have the decency to cancel if you aren't going to come, so others have to opportunity to camp at these wonderful places.

Cleanest vault toilets I have ever used ! This campground is located next to the trailhead to the beautiful hiking/backpacking trails. It was my time first staying at Onion Valley last week and it won't be my last ! I will come back to this campground again.

Great hiking, beautiful lakes, nice fishing if you don't mind small, natural, catch and release trout. High elevation, so time your rigorous hikes to allow for a couple days of altitude acclimation. Some of the sites aren't very level.
