19 Mather is a great site, very private and roomy. The whole campground is well-maintained. Some noise from train tracks.

Ranger was very helpful to check me in, even though it was late at night. She made sure I had both a map of the campground and of the Dunes National Park, and showed me where to find the visitor center. The sites were nice and it was great to have actual bathrooms and showers. I will def be back.

Be prepared for no privacy and plan your visit way in advance. Be prepared for limited beach access.

Very nice sites. Must book on Recreation .gov only. No drop-in reservations for site. So plan ahead.

We loved our campsite which was large, private and wooded! We did not have electric, but the weather was cool so we were fine.

The park is good but sorely lacking for bicyclists. The only bike trail we found was underwater in many places and the only way to get to the visitors center by bike was to travel on state highways.
The firewood guy with the wheelbarrow has good wood that burns well, the two stores at the entrance sell wood but it doesn’t burn.

The sites are nestled in the woods and are mostly private and the bathrooms and showers are nice. However you can hear the highway and the train ALL NIGHT LONG WHICH IS VERY LOUD and not at all peaceful. Very difficult to sleep.

I didn't realize there was no official check in place or person, you just go to your site and they may or may not come to you. I stayed there twice (two nights the first time, four the second), and only saw someone on my second visit. My stays were about a month apart. The facilities were well kept and clean, and everyone I spoke to was very pleasant. There were the normal issues that you experience in car camping campgrounds, like radios, people with super bright flashlights and headlamps, and car doors slamming and alarms beeping, but that's almost everywhere.

This campground is lovely! Our spot felt really woodsy, like we had a bit of privacy even though we were close to the bathroom. The bathroom was nice as well. We loved this campground. Would definitely stay there again.
