Mather loop was so nice and quiet. Campsites are more secluded.

The staff were fantastic, and site was well maintained. I was impressed with the level of cleanliness of the shower and restroom facilities. Watching the ranger clean debris, and shovel firepits when guests left was also a nice touch for the new campers arriving.

Excellent campsites, youre not right next to each other. Only bad part is that they are all reservations only. Im a local and like to go on a whim once in a while. Instead I have to make reservations ahead of time and hope for good weather. Bring back the days that I could get up on a nice morning and load the car and be there at noon! Weve been going there since it opened.Ive been to27 national parks and this campground is one of the best.

The Campground leaves much to be desired, unusual for an ACE campground. The sites are small and convoluted, needs a modern dose of engineering. The proximity of the campground is way farther from the beach then was expected. Campground needs updating , water and electric sites. I stayed on Mather circle 22, w/a 25 foot camper, and my pickup truck, no way they could both stay on the pavement. Other then that, I was fortunate to be traveling w/some great people, making the best out of it. If we return we will definitely pack our bicycles, need it there.

We have been camping at dunewood campground since it opened. We live nearby in Chesterton so we camp there several times a year. The bad part is that you have to reserve every site in advance, used to be we could decide to go camping the same day. Now I've waited for over a month to go and you have to hope for decent weather. Love the place!

Great campground with clean bathroom and showers. Also had a sink to do dishes in and a nice water fountain to fill water bottles. The volunteer ranger that checked us in was very kind. Only reason that I didn’t give this campground 5 stars was the mosquitos!! They are pretty bad. The National park itself is also underwhelming. Did the Dune succession trail to West Beach. The stairs portion was awesome, but when you get to Lake Michigan the beach was very crowded and there are steel mills in both directions.

This was our first time staying at Dunewood Campgrounds. In fact, it was our first time visiting the area! The campsite and overall state of the campgrounds was very well maintained. All the facilities that were open were well kept and clean. Other campers were respectful of the quiet hours and we all had plenty of space to ourselves. Overall, it was very peaceful. There was also lots to do around the area! Most of the locals were very helpful and nice to talk to. Being right across from Beverly Shores beach and just down the road from the State park, this campground was easily accessible, close to a variety of activities, and relatively easy to find. Highly recommend staying here. My fiance and I will DEFINITELY be back again soon!
