I really like the walk-in camp sites. Still very close to the parking, plus the camp host said the stairs are brand new, so brand new wooden staircase leading from the parking area to the camp site trails. Fair warning the site is basically near a main road and the train. Unfortunately heard plenty of fast and furious wannabe's, plus the loud train horn, several times in the late evening. Still an enjoyable respite from city life for a night!

This campground was clean, quiet and beautiful. I especially enjoyed the walk-in that allowed me to be away from RV's.

Campsites are large and you have some privacy with large trees. Beverly Shores and beaches on Lake Michigan are about 1 mile from campground. The Hob Goblin, just across the street from entrance to campground, has an excellent selection! Plus, Michigan City (only a 15 minute drive) has Fluid Coffee, casinos, lighthouse, and outlet mall. Excellent location and amenities at the Dunewood Campground!

Generally nice campground. I was trying to socially distance as much as possible and so stayed at the walk-in tent sites at the back of the campground. Shared facilities were dated but in good working order. Campsite itself was spacious and in great condition. The road noise from the nearby interstate is omnipresent and noticeable, but calms down during the night. Not what I would call a "destination" park, but if you're driving thru the area and want to stop off or camp while passing thru, it's worth a stop. 2020's been a hard year and all the parks are offering modified/limited experiences (and in my opinion have done admirably making the best of a tough situation). Many parks seem to be using 2020 to take on some of their maintenance projects. I suspect non-Covid years will provide an even better experience. I will comment: If you want a greater selection of hiking opportunities, Indiana Dunes STATE Park (which is independent of but located within the national park) was also beautiful.

The whole campground is wooded and has no hint, view, or other sense that you're near the water. All of the sites looked well-maintained. Site 64 is a walk-in site and the campsite area is shaded, quite large and flat, has a metal pole with a low and a high hook, and plenty of trees around the edges to string up drying lines. To access the walk-in site path you need to descend about 15 stairs. The parking area is right across from a dumpster and recycling station as well as a water spigot. It's a short walk to the bath house which is clean. Showers are each in separate rooms with doors to the outside. There is also a camper's sink on the outside of the building.I was there in the middle of a heat wave and it was very uncomfortable. Mosquitos were aggressive during the day and there was no breeze. Between the heat, humidity, and the large noisy party at a site nearby, I didn't sleep. Because I was awake, the noise of the trains and nearby road were also prominent, although I'm not sure they would have been as noticeable if I was sleeping well otherwise. There's a liquor store, general store (sells firewood), and a wood-fired pizza food truck (very good!), and gas station on one side of the nearby intersection, and a nice restaurant/bar with indoor and outdoor seating on the other side. To get to the beach, you can either walk a mile (one way to where the road parallel to the beach begins), or drive that mile and hunt for parking in one of three free lots. There aren't a lot of spaces (maybe 15 in the first lot, 20 in the second, and 50 in the last --- I'm sure those numbers aren't accurate, but it gives an idea). The beach itself was nice but the dunes were nothing to be wowed by. Maybe the dunes at the state park are different, but these are just small narrow dunes that separate the road from the flat part of the beach. All in all, had the weather been different, it would have been a good place to stay, but is not a 'bucket list' destination by any means.
