This is a nice campground and I would consider site 13 spacious. In September there is a reasonable amount of privacy between campsites. The bathrooms are clean and in good shape. However, even without my hearing aids in, there was quite a bit of noise from traffic (nearby freeways) and trains.

We love that the campground is secluded without campsites on top of one another. The restrooms were clean and the camp hosts very helpful. The location is great and we did not notice a lot of noise (were in a camper and not a tent).

This is a beautiful campground: clean facilities, nice campsites that seem well cared for and level. The park itself is interesting and the nearby Kemil Beach with close by parking was easy to access and watch the dark sky. It is NOT walkable from the campground. Other campers were polite and quiet. Unfortunately the ambient noise at night is too loud. Both the traffic from a nearby roadway and the constant passing of freight trains and the blowing of the horn kept me awake. I happened to have a pair of earplugs (not noise cancelling) but the din around me continued. If you are in an RV or something that closes down, or have noise cancelling earphone, this may not be a problem. Overall a nice 2 day nature trip.

The people are check-in were friendly and informative. There were free hot showers which was an added plus!

The grounds and the bathrooms were well kept. While there was a lot of train and highway noise at night (bring earplugs!), I didn't notice anything from the other campers since the sites are spread out. It's a short drive to the beach and you could walk to the train station to take a train into Chicago if you wanted to.

Sites are nice, some trees between them, large enough tent pads and it was very pretty during peak fall colors.

When I was there there was no functional office and the vending machine for park passes was empty or maybe non-functional. I didn't really know what to do until I found a small note on the message board that said to drive to canmpsite and that someone would check me in. When I was checked-in I was told to get a park pass at a local gas station and when I went to the gas station they were sold out of passes. Getting a park pass should not be such a hassle. I have never been to a national park and not been able to get a pass.

This was a nice stop over on our way to Michigan from Indiana. The park was clean and the trails looked inviting, however we were not there long enough to explore as much as we would have liked.

Some highway noise in the distance, but otherwise a pretty low key campground. Michigan City is a few minutes away with Aldi, Meijer, and Walmart. Chicago is accessible by train station a short walk away. Beach is a short drive. Decent place to stay for a couple days.

The Mather Loop is spacious and woodsy. No problems with camping. People in the park were respectful of guidelines. There is road noise because of proximity to paved roads and people who enjoy loud cars.

Dunewood is a nice campground in a wooded area with sites space out from each other. The campground is quiet with sounds of nature unless someone is running a generator.

I just love this little cozy spot for camping. The close proximity to Lake Michigan and several hiking, biking trails is a bonus.Campsites are big and lots of trees. Showers are clean and private. There is a trolley that will take you to the beach on weekends.Shops nearby for anything you may need and a wonderful restaurant within walking distance if you dont feel like cooking. They have Live music on weekends.Dunewood is a well run campground.
