Spacious site. Clean restrooms. We were happy to have the sink for dishes. Volunteers welcoming and helpful. Very quiet at night. Great phone connections to ATT. Signage throughout the area is very clear as to what part of the park one is close to. Enjoyed Dune Ridge trail, Portage lakefront and Riverwalk, and the Chellberg and Bailly farms. And of course Lake Michigan.

The campground was quiet and our spaces had level spots. The bathrooms and showers were both nice and the host was friendly and helpful. We also met the gentleman cleaning up the sites and he was friendly and informative. We would go back again for sure.

Camp host was fantastic. Sites are pretty private. We had people staying at Douglas 50 and Douglas 52, we were Douglas 51, and couldnt hear our neighbors and never had any issues with anything.

The sites are decently private with good tent pads. The shower house was clean with good hot water. A camper sink for dishwashing was a nice bonus. The hosts were friendly. Definitely heard railroad and road noise but that's the trade-off for being close to town with good cell service.

Good-sized campsites. Well-maintained bathrooms with showers. The towns of Michigan City and Chesterton are within a 10-minute drive for supplies.

Beautiful campground. Many sites quite large. No electricity but bathrooms clean with shower. Beach is a bit of a stroll but walkable, though much of the beach access was restricted.

Nice, spacious campground, however the noise was excessive due to trains going by as late as midnight and as early as 5am.
Gave 4 stars for the amenities and the cleanliness, but otherwise was too loud

Future visitors -- please note that currently, Lakeview Beach (the closest beach to the campgrounds) does not have lake access due to natural damage. You will need to plan on going to one of the other beaches along Lakefront Drive for the beach or to walk along the shoreline. Although near the convenience of cities, Dunewood campgrounds are situated in the woods with good-sized campsites.
