Reception at Dunewood was a 10+, very professional. Stayed in site 41 Sept 25. Very shaded so I charged Solar batteries the day before to max. Stayed 3 days. Parked a 24 trailer easily. Space was groomed, very spacious and near showers. Shower and bathroom were always clean. Have water tank full before entering park. Water available but no hose connection. Must fill container. Dump was very well designed and easy to use. Non potable water at dump. Senior discount honored on advance Internet reservation. Second time to park. Visitors center and quantity of activities close to nature is a 10! Did Parks on The Air ( POTA) with ham radio from NP and State Park with Ham Radio in my truck with no problem. Indiana Dunes is a unique gem in the NP system .

Beautiful campground tucked into a wooded oasis even though major roads nearby. Very clean, welcoming staff. Campground is walking distance to great trails, architectural tour, a restaurant and stores.

The campground was very wooded, quiet, lovely. My only complaint was there were tons of mosquitos! The beach at the Dunes State park was closed due to not having lifeguards so that was a bummer.

We stayed in the Douglas area which was fine. However, we did not appreciate the Campground allowing the huge gathering of DPG people in the Mather area. They were blocking roads, using bullhorns and calling us names. This did not seem like an appropriate use of the family campground. In addition, they had so many cars parked all over Mather, way more than the usual two per site allowed. Please do not allow this group to come to Dunewood in the future.

Dunewood Campground in the Indiana Dunes National Park Reserve is located close to the Indiana State Park Beaches for swimming and non-motorized boating. The beach trails are low in elevation but still a challenge as the hiker walks in deep sand. There are lots of activities to do, places to visit nearby that are both educational, interesting and fun. The campground provided fresh potable water complete with restrooms, sinks and showers; all for free. There are mosquitos so come prepared based on the time of year and weather. Also there was a lot a train noise throughout the night. It would be appreciated if the local camp host drove or walked around the camp loops at 10:00pm to remind campers to settle down and lower or eliminate the noise volume; campers next to us were quite loud until midnight when we had to politely ask them the lower their voices (people just forget how sound travels). It is a great place for families to spend quality time.

Fantastic Host. Great facilities. I'm glad we went to the NPS campground instead of the State Park. We had a quiet weekend, great neighbors, and a wonderful experience.
