We were in spot 22 so our pad was pretty level, there was a new bathroom with flush toilets just down from our site about 150 feet that was really clean and nice, my wife and I did use the shower house a few times and the showers were hot and were roomy but it was in bad need of repainting because the foors and wall were dingy with mold stains from years of use so it wasn't a great experience there and the shower heads needed replaced as the spray went in several directions but down, overall the park is nicely kept, it could use dumpsters in each arm as the only one was at the park entrance or over by the boat launch area!

Fantastic campground. No golf carts, and other noisemakers. The hosts are the best of any park we have gone to. The Ranger staff was fantastic and nice to talk to. The cleaning staff keeps the facilities top-notch.The one big problem is that the campground closes the day after labor day. It should stay open into the fall so people can enjoy camping in the fall colors. The Army Corps of Engineers should recognize this need to use one of its prime campgrounds. Opossum Creek is a much better camp than Lithia Springs which is a noisy and less desirable campground.Opossum Creek is one of those hidden jewels that people who want to camp in peace and quiet, kick back and read a book, have a nice walk, and be away from the pressures of society for a few days. One hates to give the campground such glowing reviews simply the more people who read the good reviews will decide to camp there and suddenly getting a campsite is hard to do.Wake up AOE, keep Opossum Creek open until the middle of October.

A wonderful place to just sit back and let the world go by. No golf carts, no ATVs, no loud music. Staff and rangers are fantastic.

Opossum Creek is our getaway from life's hectic pace even for us Golden Age pass people. It is a more laid back campground without hundreds of golf carts buzzing around 24 hrs. a day.

Best campground at Lake Shelbyville. Psst, do not tell anyone so it will always not be sold out.
