Nice clean campground, showers were pretty clean, vault toilets needed a bit of work. The tent sites are a little close to each other but just enough distance separating them. Nice dive bar right down the road. Im would stay here again.

I only stayed 1 night as I passed through town so activities were not a priority. Overall, the campground, toilets, and showers were clean but my specific site had trash and food left on it from the pigs that used it before me. Literal rice on the table and trash in the fire pit. Not the host's fault (who were very nice). The numbering system is a little confusing. The tent sites are in the middle of the hookup sites, but the numbering does not reflect it. So going around, let's say sites 26-30 are hookups then the tent sites are 53-56, then continuing along the circle driveway are hookup sites 31-52. When I first arrived, I literally drove around about 3 times trying to find where the tent sites were. I even asked a couple there with an RV and showed them the map of the grounds on recreation.gov and they too weren't sure because it showed the tent sites should be after/passed the hookup sites. Although it seems secluded, as it's right on the Mississippi in the woods a little, it's only yards away from a relatively busy road so I heard trucks drive by throughout the night. I'm not sure if I'd stay here again only because of the traffic noise. Not something I want to hear while I'm supposed to be enjoying the quiet camping atmosphere. To get into the grounds, you also drive over a railroad track, which adds to the noise. I don't think it would be as bad in an RV or van/camper, but it's too noisy for tents.

Stayed near the end of the season. The ranger staff was super helpful and checked once on us to say hello. Tent camping was close together but we were the only one there. lots to see and also some good eats nearby! firewood from the station down the street was cheap.
