Campgrounds Available This Weekend Near Skokie, IL

Skokie, located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, offers easy access to outdoor recreation and camping. Skokie Lagoons provides a serene spot for picnicking and camping with plenty of trails for hiking and wildlife watching. Busse Woods Forest Preserve, just south of Skokie, offers scenic campsites along a large lake and is perfect for biking and horseback riding. Cottage Grove Park offers a more peaceful setting for camping, with access to nearby nature reserves. Indiana Dunes National Park, located a short drive to the east, offers coastal camping on Lake Michigan. Skokie’s proximity to these parks makes it an ideal spot to explore the outdoors without straying too far from Chicago.
Kickapoo State Recreation Area Campground is part of Kickapoo State Recreation Area in Illinois (35 min east of Champaign, IL) with an elevation of 633 feet. There are a total of 180 campsites including 1 tent-only site. The campground is open all year. 179 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 15 and 50 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. 97 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $10.00 to $40.00. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, dump station, playground, restroom, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, sports, floating sports.
