Busse Woods Forest Preserve offers campgrounds with peaceful settings, perfect for tent camping and RVs, along with hiking trails and lakes for fishing. Cook County Forest Preserves feature additional campgrounds, providing opportunities for outdoor recreation such as canoeing, biking, and wildlife watching. Starved Rock State Park, a little further south, offers both developed campgrounds and dispersed sites amidst scenic canyons and waterfalls. Chain O' Lakes State Park provides lakeside camping, ideal for boaters and anglers, with tent and RV campsites along the shoreline. Dunewood Campground in Porter County is located just 15 min west of Michigan City, IN with an elevation of 624 feet. There are a total of 66 campsites including 13 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of April to the beginning of November. 53 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 26 and 99 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Prices start at $25.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, restroom, trash dumpster, amphitheater, flush toilets.
