We've always camped in the two newer loops at Ponderosa, which include full hookups. This time, we stayed in the older Chokecherry Loop but were pleasantly surprised. We expected small sites located close together, but our site was just as spacious as those in the newer loops.

The advantage of being in an older loop is that we were surrounded by towering lodgepole pines, which even on a record-setting high temperature day, the shade kept us cool even during the heat of the afternoon.

We have a 25-foot trailer and there was probably an extra 10 feet after our trailer and tow rig Yukon were parked. The site included electricity and water and the electric pedestal was pretty new.

There was decent space between our site and neighboring ones. The noise level was pretty quiet despite several families with young children staying nearby.

The grounds were kept clean and the camp hosts were friendly. It's a great place to stay.
