unlike some of the au sable sites this is not too far above the water and has nice stairs down to the water. I love the remoteness of all the au sable sites and this one was no different. Of course, it is rustic so no services, water or electricity so plan accordingly.

We camp up here yearly. We love it. Site 1 water access is a little steep otherwise is a nice location

Beautiful, peaceful, and, and serene. And if you are prepared, it is a wonderful place. We love it.

A fine site. Not far from the 4001 Canoe Landing where you can park before heading down river. Isolated, quiet, close to the river. Easy to find with signs. Go slow on the dirt road back - I scraped the bottom of my car pretty good.

I love the Alcona primitive camps along the AuSable River. I love the fact that they are very secluded and separated from each other. I was not able to use the boat only camps that I had reserved but home to next year. I would very much like to reserve a different camp next year.

Most important thing is to clean up after yourself

Canoe/camped with a group of six along the AuSable from Mio to Loud Dam. Campsite 1 was spacious and not too difficult to get in and out of the water and get the gear up to the campsite. The site isn't very well marked from the river though and we almost drifted by!Campsite 14 was excellent. Plenty of room and easy to get in and out of the river with gear.
