The campground was so peaceful and well kept. Each site is a pull through with ample space. The photos dont do it justice. Theres a short walk or drive to the river (250 stairs) but its a great place to jump in the water or paddle out into the Au Sable/Loud Dam Pond. Its a gorgeous and serene area. We loved it so much we booked an additional week! Our campground host, Faith, was nice enough to keep an eye on our rig while we worked downstate for the week and came back the following weekend. We will be back!

We arrived at Rollways campground on a Wednesday in July and it was close to empty and that night we noticed how quiet it was. We both expected that as it got closer to the weekend it would get noisier as it filled up but the noise never came. This was the quietest campground I have ever stayed in. The campground host, Faith would pass through the campground twice a day and was helpful with questions about the surrounding area. Bathrooms were clean and supplies in the bathroom were always kept full. My only issue to note is from pictures online I believed there was a place to launch a canoe or kayak at Rollways and when we got there we found out there wasnt one. All that is there is about 250 stairs down to a dock on the river. Faith did provide us with a map showing where other boat launches were.

There was another group of campers who were extremely rude and causing a lot of noise starting at the quiet time. Thankfully they were asked to leave the next morning and the rest of the stay was much more peaceful. The campsite was clean and well maintained. It also had a fire pit even though i didnt use it. Water was easy to access and the vault toilet was the best Ive used here in the state.

First 2 days(Wednesday & Thursday) were great. Nice and peaceful. Friday night the place filled up and were partying all night til 4am. Dogs barking all night. Host did nothing. We left reservation early because it ruined our trip.

The camp host was too attentive. She wanted to regulate everything, from where I parked my motorcycle to what lights were on when parking my vehicle. She was an old woman that did not have a grasp of reality.

Location was great. During the weekend we were able to do the stairs at Lumberman's Monument, and Iargo Springs as well as take trips to Oscoda and Tawas to hang out at the beaches there. The campground host was incredibly nice and helpful.

Spend 8 days this time.Built in 1909 this oldie but goodie is for those seeking peace and quiet and don't mind the lack of amenities, paved and level drive through sites mainly. Brought small hummingbird feeder as we had seen them on a previous stay and they quickly became part of the experience, amazing creatures also heard Barred owls at night. Camp host, Faith, is great, pit toilets kept clean and supplied, Gypsy moths still an issue but not as bad as previous years. Still the oak tree's have suffered.Forest service leaves red pine logs to burn in fire pits. Access to river is from the dam boat launch near by, stairs to a rickety boat dock at day use area not for those with knee or balance issues, hiking trail that follows the ridge offers some views of the river impoundment. Its quiet, some road noise from M-65 but bearable,Lake Huron is about 30-45 minutes away, nearest store and fuel stations are 15 minutes away in Hale. Oscoda on Lake Huron is 25 miles, Tawas has a walmart. The town of Glennie on the way to Mio reminded us of Kentucky with rolling farmland some worthy views of the river from overlooks, small Amish community near Hale. Cellular service (verizon) was spotty to non-existent. Nearest ER is in Tawas, 20-25 minutes. This site is 2 hours drive from SE michigan so It is one of our favorite weekend getaways away from the noise and madness that has become the US-23 and I-96 corridor.

The camp host was not there for our entire two day stay. The local criminals may know about her absence . We left our campsite to go sightseeing for three hours and when we returned our campfire chairs and folding table had been stolen. State Police came to take the report. A man driving through as we were departing told us the campground is notorious for thefts. It was a very nice place with the exception of the larceny.

This is a place that is peaceful, clean, easy to access, and with wide paved drive through sites. If you are looking for some exploration activities The Scenic Byway along the AuSable River is a great day trip.

Camped here many times & it’s always been great. Sites are large with lots of room between for privacy. The vault toilets are clean & well maintained. The water is very good & a welcome change from “city water”! Highly recommend

Campsites were large, and almost all were pull-through for RVs, with enough grass space for tents if that is your preferred shelter. There were large buffers between most campsites, and nights were quiet, for the most part. Our site had trees close to the pavement (and dead limbs overhanging the pad). The gypsy moth caterpillars (and all their by-products) were rampant when we visited, and it is clear the county doesn't spray for them. Several nearby access points are available for the AuSable River, but none are located in the campground, and the view over the river valley would benefit from thinning the trees to enhance the view. Outhouses were very clean! Would stay here again if we plan on fishing and kayaking the AuSable River.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
