I think the loop on the left is older and not quite as nice. We were in #18 with a 19' trailer and had plenty of room. This is our second visit. Last year we hiked to the top of Liberty Pass and a little beyond. It's a must do and you will never forget the view of Liberty Lake, especially if the skies are clear. You top out around 10,500 Ft. The water was shut off the day we arrived, but we called ahead to the Ranger station in Elko and they told us to fill up at the Chamber of Commerce, before driving up the canyon. There is a frost proof hose bib in the rear of the building. It was a great tip. So we added just enough water to last 4 days.
This year we hiked up Thomas Creek Canyon and to Island Lake. Thomas Creek was nice, it a little steep but not strenuous. The trail is a little rocky. Of course, there is some elevation-I think up to about 8,600 ft. The Aspen trees were in full color and quite beautiful. 5 Miles RT.
Island Lake was a nice hike 4 Miles RT. It is exposed, so it's pretty hot. The lake was pretty but filled with algae. Not sure if it was the dangerous type. we have a dog and she swims everywhere. She had no symptoms, I checked with the vet when we got home and he says it should not be a problem.
We also spent a day in Elko at several museums. very nice. We tried to eat in a restaurant, The Star, but no one was wearing a mask nor were they social distanced ( Pandemic you know) So we passed. The little town of Lamoille was cute-there is a beautiful old church at the east end of town. Go around back, if there is some inside they will show you around. It's quite beautiful. Wonderful stained glass worth a fortune.
