Stunningly beautiful area and still green in August thanks to this year's record precipitation. Excellent trout fishing right across the road from camp - we caught our bag limit every day. The campsite is clean and well-kept, although the sites are rather small and. close together. They even have level concrete pads for tents, something I'd never seen before. Camp hosts were helpful and friendly. The double sites look great for a larger group. Hope Valley is so pretty and is one of the best campsites I've ever been to!

As a tent camper, what stood out to me is that the campsites had flat, framed pads for the tents. No question about where I was to set it up.
The road inside the campground was a low-dust gravel. I guess this is standard practice when the inside the campground road isn't paved.
Bathrooms were "vaults" and unlighted, so either bring a light or "do your stuff" "by radar" if you need to between dusk and dawn. If you didn't bring your own food, a restaurant is about 10 miles to the west or at least twice as far to the north. (I go camping in a Civic, so I choose to rely on the local restaurants for refrigerated and cooked meals. If you can live with that, you'll be fine here.
The access road is not the local highway, but goes much farther than this campground and passes close by. When a car or light truck (usually) goes by, you hear it.

The smoke in this area is awful and it’s impossible to cancel the reservation

Nice campground, but very busy. Even though the camp host posted a "campground full" sign, there was a constant stream of cars driving through, presumably looking for first come, first served sites. The campground is situated in a nice spot - close to the West Fork of the Carson River, for early morning fishing, and a 10 minute drive to Blue Lakes for swimming, beach fun, kayaking, etc. Camp host was great. My family had fun, but overall my impression of the area was simply too many people. The area is being loved to death. The next time we camp here, it will be for a mid-week trip.

The camp hosts, Debbie and Don, were wonderful. I wish that every camp host were this nice.

This was a very clean campground and the campground hosts were very pleasant and easy to work with.
