Tons of bugs, boats and no toilet paper was provided at the pit toilet. Very unsanitary and unsafe situation

We had a wonderful time. Loved the spot with the beautiful sandy beach campsite with views of Lake Superior and the cliffs of Trout Bay. An amazing campsite with firewood provided by Park Service. Nice fire ring with a removable grill to cook on. Had to carry water for miles from Murray Bay campsite. If you have a water filtration system, I would highly recommend you bring that. There are benches built in around the fire pit to sit on but no cooking or eating space. We saw picnic tables at the end of the beach day use area and some other campsites. I would highly recommend that the park service add a picnic table to each campsite. Must see area is the Trout Bay overlook. Bonus- there is cell service there too! Be sure to have lots of deet insect repellant. The hike to the campsite takes you through a swampy area by Duck Lake. It is swarming with mosquitos. We didn't have too much of a bug problem at the campsite due to stiff breezes off the lake.

Loved Grand Island. Will definitely visit again. We brought our bikes and had a great time exploring the island. Some great hills challenged us but we pressed on. We had great weather and the bugs we're not terrible. Superior:)

I stayed at the end of June going right before the 4th of July. The campsite is fantastic. It takes about 1hr 15min - 1 30min to get there from the ferry. There's a fire ring, designated spots for tents, and bear pole and box. There was limited firewood, but I didn't really need it. I believe driftwood or little duck also had a place to pick up free firewood.

I didn't realize that water was out at Murray bay and near Stone quarry cabin so I walked back to William's landing the next morning to get water.

Locals will come with their boats throughout the day and beach park their boats. They don't come up to the campsites but because I was solo, it was nice to see human interaction. This site is about 200 yards away from Little Dunes 2 where the pit toilet is.

Bugs were definitely annoying but came and went during the day. Make sure to bring bug spray and a head net (really happy I brought it)

Everybody says that it takes about 2.5 days to hike the entire island but if you can get a 3 mph pace you can knock it out.

I can't wait to go back and share the experience. Highly recommend Little Dunes 1 & 2 for a really cool beachfront campsite.

Perfect size campsite and beautiful beach surrounding. Plenty of firewood couldn't ask for more.
