Lovely location- wish we had picked a site on the lake side of the campground-most of those sites had direct access to the path that goes around the lake. Peaceful, isolated, and even the vault toilets were the cleanest I've seen!

Arrived June 27th, 2021. Cowell Lake Campground was close to full. We love the rustic quality of this place. Cell service is sketchy at best. Being early Spring, the air was still cold. We had an inner campsite. This turned out for the best. The wind blowing off the lake was cold. Our camper blocked the cold west winds. Tenters, on the lake, were huddled around their campfires wearing whatever warm clothing they had and wrapped in blankets. When the Memorial Day weekend ended, Colwell Lake Campground was near empty. The days warmed. The evenings were cool. It was perfect campfire weather. The lake was still too cold to enjoy swimming. The hike trail around the lake was beautiful. Bugs were minimal. Overall, everything was clean, neat and well taken care of.
