Beautiful campsite! This is my second time camping at Pine Springs, and its one of my favorite campsites to date!

The Pine Springs Campground at Guadalupe Mountains National Park is a great spot to camp! We came to the park to hike to Guadalupe Peak. The trail head is a short walk from the campsite and is easily accessible. The mountains background and stars at nights proved to be awesome.

This is a great campground for visiting Guadelupe Peak, especially and for checking out the visitors center. We used it as a central point to visit Carlsbad Caverns, about 45 minutes to the east and White Sands NP about 2.5 hours north - clean, quiet, and gorgeous sunsets and rises.

The campsites were simple and clean. There was a picnic table, but I do wish it had had a cover. The bathroom was clean and no trash at all.

If you like a quiet campsite this one isn't for you. The campsites are oddly spaced and it sounded like people were in out site all night. Flashlights shined into our tent until about 3 am. The quiet time rules isn't enforced and it wasn't a pleasant stay. I know most of that is the other campers and not the parks fault but just beware that it's a problem before you book thinking your getting a nice quiet stay. The park itself is beautiful and the peak is a beast worth conquering.

Well maintained grounds. Loved our site (#6). Restrooms were clean and liked that there was a dish wash station. Easy to refill water. Very nice education area in the visitor center.

Site 6 is about a 100-ft walk from the loop road. There are a few parking spaces across from the trail to the site. The site itself has a couple of trees for shade, and not all sites do. I stayed there in mid-August, and the campsite smelled of skunk. I noticed a flyer at the bathroom facility that warned about skunks and the need to keep your tent closed and food in your vehicle. During the night, it smelled like I had a visitor, though I didn't bother to open the tent door and check since a scared skunk is not fun.A second issue with the campground is that road noise is bad. US 62 is a heavily traveled highway for tractor-trailers driving between El Paso and Carlsbad. The campground sits at the top of a long grade up from the salt flats, and you can hear the trucks at all hours gearing down to make the climb up and Jake-braking on the way down. My advice is to bring earplugs. The tent pad is packed gravel. Make sure you have a footprint or tarp to protect your tent bottom. If you kneel in your tent, you're knees will definitely feel it. The campsite had a picnic table that was in good shape. The bathroom facility is a little bit of walk from Site 6, but it was clean, though it had no showers.Overall, my three-star rating is probably a little low given the limited options in the park. The campground is convenient to the Visitor Center and a number of trails. Nevertheless, anyone staying in the campground needs to be prepared for its limitations.

This National Park requires much more planning than others for camping and a]staying on site.

Camped in Site 6 for one night. Weather was good but windy/gusty at times. We went to the ranch and hiked the Springs Trail. We did it in counter clock wise fashion which made returning trail down nice. Going up was sometimes rough but very doable with hiking poles. At top rewarded with the last water fall and spring. Shaded and very nice for resting and cooling off a bit before heading down. Highly recommend. Visitors center great for history. This was first visit to park so have much more to explore in future visits like the north side which takes you up to Carlsbad and then west and south to Dog Canyon which is next for exploring. Only request is that if camping for multi days it would be nice to have a shower building.

If I designed my own campground I would lay it out exactly like Pine Springs. I was saying my evening prayers when a dove landed next to me. “That’s cool”, I thought but then the bird flew off and landed at the campsite next to us. Those campers had left about an hour ago so I figured I better see if the dove wanted to show me something. Sure enough, the last group left two beers sitting there for whoever showed up next. The staff was friendly but they were outdone by a bird.

A good campground. The night sky is absolutely stunning from the campsites.
