The campsites are laid out well with some space even though there is very little shade. The picnic tables were very helpful. The bathrooms by the trailhead are very nice!

LOVE visiting here. At least 7 trips that I can recall without thinking too hard. THIS one was a little challenging - VERY, VERY windy night 1 - but nothing anyone can do about that. It's just business as usual in the Guads. NOT the best place for your ultralight backpacking tent. We ultimately bailed on our last two nights - overnight lows predicted in the teens the first, then single digits the next (with those legendary GMNP winds, wind chill would have been WELL below zero). Fled to a hotel in Carlsbad, but still came back and hiked McKittrick on what was to be the windier day, then climbed Guad Peak the next day and ended up with A PERFECT WINDLESS SUMMIT EXPERIENCE - a rarity for sure. Temps in the 20s, but hiked up in shorts and a long sleeve shirt. Coming down we met a party of guys headed up, WAY late in the day. Hope they had headlamps!!Love this place. It is a hiker's park! BTW - if you're here & get a bad day, Carlsbad Caverns is barely an hour away and WELL worth the visit. Might need a reservation. Walking in from the natural entrance is a great experience.

Staff at the visitor center and the volunteers at the camper were all really nice. Very helpful. Able to answer all questions.

Great campsite. A little noisy with the road close by but not too bad. Flush toilets at the visitor center and every campsite has its own picnic table.

The three potable water pumps were shut off, it would have been nice to use those but the bathroom has running water. There is a water fountain in the restroom building (between the restrooms), but the water tastes a little off. Beware that it can get very windy, so make sure you use good tent stakes!

Great site. good views, clean bathroom, close to trailheads. Park ranger very friendly The sites are visible from others, but far enough that you have some semblance of privacy. Would definitely stay here again.

No lights on campground or main building as they were either broken or turned off. Multiple Bathrooms were closed with no explanation on why. No camp host, overall poor experience with the entire time we were there. Wouldnt recommend but its the only site close to the trails.

A beautiful, well maintained, and quiet place to camp.

Site 7 has a lovely backdrop of the mountains. We found parking close to the short trail to the site (so we didn't have to carry our things far).In addition to the water pump near the restrooms, there is a water bottle filling station in the restroom building. We also found it helpful to arrive with several gallon jugs of water, so we didn't have to go to the pump much.

I really dont believe in these reservations only camps. Its really watered down the whole vacation experience for me. Iv been doing it for years and it used to be fun showing up early picking out a site and everything. The system allows people to take advantage and reserve sites that they have no intention of using for privacy or just in case or for whatever reason. I regularly show up to camps that are very lightly populated with most spots still open even late, but online everythings full These reservation systems are clearly just a money grab for the organization because they do benefit from the sales obviously. I think this is the straw that broke the camels back for me, just aint enjoying my travel trips to national parks like I used to. Thank you for ruining that for me and so many others.

Tent camping area is very nice and well maintained. The only drawback is the highway noise which is near constant.
