Many of the tent sites are some distance from the road, where the cars are parked. The paths to the actual sites are overgrown and scratchy against bare legs. There is little to no shade. There is one water source for the entire campground. Overall, not a very user friendly campground. We did not stay the second night of our reservation, in part because storms and wind were forecast and we did not feel particularly sheltered in our site.

Beautiful campsite that we would love to stay at again in the future. It is surrounded by the mountains and the sights are lovely. We only did one evening here and left before the afternoon, but be aware that it gets very hot here and there is no shade whatsoever at this campsite. This did not bother us in the evening or the morning, but I can imagine that it can get very hot in the summer afternoons. The restrooms are at the end of the road, about a 2-3 minute walk from this site. The water fountains here were off. However, in the other direction, there are additional restrooms with working water fountains - about a 5 minute walk. Next to these restrooms there are also 4-5 trailheads including Devils Hall, El Captain, and Guadalupe Peak. One of the better campsites that I've stated at in recent memory - highly recommend.

Convenient location to trails and services, but beware the wind never stops blowing.

Loved this site - set back and private. A little walk back to the tent site.

Having the campsites set a ways from the road helps give each campsite a small but nice touch of privacy and seclusion. Sure was windy at night!

Beautiful campground! We stayed at campsite 18, which was perfect. Parking spot with a small walk, gorgeous views, privacy from other campsites, and not a far walk to the bathroom. It does get extra windy at night so strap everything down and dont leave anything out. No campfires allowed, so we brought a small stove to cook on. Loved our stay at this campsite!

Good campground! Fast access to trails. Good cell service (ATT). It would be nice if there was potable water at the tent sites.

Site is secluded and level. Easy walk from the car to the picnic table and tent pad. Many great hikes accessible from the campground.

The Pine Springs campground is a lovely area for tents with one problem: there is no water available in the camping area. I needed to go to the RV parking lot or to the visitor center to get water. Bring a large water container! Another problem was that each site had a reservation slip showing who had the site reserved for the coming night/s. However, the slips were not updated each day and quickly fell out of date.

The campground is mostly open and has a few really nice spots. I especially liked #18 and would prefer that should I go back. Many of the sites are exposed and wind gusts can be strong with them. The one drawback is that you cannot park next to your site on many of the spots. Hiking trails are a walk away from the camp which is also a plus!

Friendly folks at the visitors center and an enthusiastic camp host. Tent campsite had a very level spot for tents and plenty of space to spread out. The filtered drinking water at the main bathrooms was an unexpected bonus. We intend to come back and hike more of the trails.

From your campsite, you have a good view of the Guadalupe Mountains. Each campsite is a short walk from the road/parking area, but you are hidden from almost all the other campsites. It was a little annoying to have to go to the RV parking area for potable water and to wash your dishes, but it's not a long walk.
The Guadalupes are rugged and remote, so come prepared.
There are several trailheads that connect to the Pine Springs campground, so a variety of hikes.
The area at RV parking area where you get potable water left water on the ground. This attached a variety of birds. I had a very enjoyable morning bird watching and saw several different species in a short amount of time.

The tent only campground spaces are nicely spread out and most have some shade. The setting is beautiful. Nearby dishwashing facilities a plus. The campground for larger vehicles is a large parking lot with tables scattered around the edges.

Pros: Great view of the mountains. Nice campsite.
Cons: 50+ mph winds and no staking allowed made this a poor experience. Restrooms needed cleaning.

I have visited and stayed at many national parks and I visited Guadeloupe Mountain NP back in about 1991 on my way back from Colorado. So all I can say is it has changed significantly. On quiet nights you can clearly hear the traffic on Hwy 62 and light pollution from (I am guessing) Carlsbad. None of this is specifically GMNP fault but does take away from the enjoyment factor if you plan on camping, which what i did. Most of the campsites are on a loop so you will have to carry your gear to your site except for a few that are very near the parking lot. Water is not available in the campsite area and you need get your camp water at faucets near the bathrooms in the RV parking area. There are some new looking "pit" toilets near the camping area but no water is available there so be parpared to carry your water 0.7 mile (or more) depending on your campsite location. Not a deal breaker but something to plan for. Also, there are no facilities for food on site so be prepared to bring everything you need for the duration of your stay or plan for a trip to El Paso, Van Horn or Carlsbad. Again not a deal breaker but a planning activity. I personally will not return to GMNP for camping. I would maybe stop in for some hiking but the camping experience (not referring to backcountry camping) was just so-so.

Clean and quiet campgrounds. Stayed at site 18, which felt like it had a little more privacy compared to most sites. Rangers were friendly and helpful. Excellent hiking.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Loved waking up the the sunrise every morning in the basin. Lots of privacy from the neighbors at this site and had decent cell coverage here. Didnt have a problem with the animals, saw 1 skunk under the picnic table at night but he left us alone lol.
