We had an outstanding experience at Pine Springs Campground. The staff was excellent from start to finish friendly, helpful, and truly welcoming. You can tell they care about the park and the visitors who come through. Our site was exactly as described, which made planning and setup smooth and stress-free. Everything was well maintained and organized. The park itself was absolutely beautiful. From the rugged mountain views to the peaceful desert landscape, its one of those places that reminds you why you love being outdoors in the first place. Every sunrise and sunset felt unreal. We cant wait to go back. Pine Springs definitely earned a five-star rating from us.

Unfortunately, due to park closure, I was unable to make use of my reservation and unable to experience the park.

Great campground, all sites require a slight walk from your car. Beautiful views and a level sleeping pad. Walkway into site #3 was slightly overgrown with some sharp thorns/cactus creeping in to be careful for.

Nice campground! Beautiful sky and stars at night too! If you're arriving after dark, make sure you know where your campsite is and/or print out a map of the layout as it's a bit tricky to find. We arrived after dark and had to loop around a few times to find our site.

The well for the trailhead and camping area was out, but there was clear communication and signage from the staff to inform of the changing situation. Other than that, the camp sites and amenities were well maintained.

Great experience in campsite 3 at Pine Springs! Clean, well organized, easily accessible and easy access to trail heads. Facilities were all operable and in great shape. Our Host Nancy was fantastic. We were lucky enough to meet the legend Pam Bales on the trail up the peak! The only thing I would advise those looking at specific sites within GMNP is site 3 has zero shade. Several others had small trees that gave some cover in the afternoon sun. But if you plan on hiking all day, that is irrelevant.

Fabulous, small, campground very close to the main visitor center. The tent sites have lovely pads and are nestled off the road in the beautiful Chihuahuan desert steppe. Theyre arranged with a wilderness, low-impact, hike-in footprint rather than as individual, drive-up sites. Theyre perched in a high valley with a view to the Texas plains to the east. You are treated to the most incredible sunrises. There is a dishwashing sink behind the (running-water) restrooms at the trailhead and RV camping parking lot and a pit toilet at the east end of the tent camping lot.

I tried to stay here years ago and the booking system was a mess. The new system is great. The park was nice and well taken care of. The quiet time is a bit overkill. 8 a.m. is late in the world of camping. My 15-year-old boy and I hiked to the peak in the morning and to Devil's Hall in the afternoon. We really wanted to camp in the backcountry but the office makes it very difficult to have access to the land. The process for backcountry permitting prohibits people from knowing there is access to the campsites without driving many hours to the park.

Very open to the elements- sun and wind. Water was shut off at many places while we were here, so bring extra.

Located in a very scenic and beautiful canyon. Campsites are close together but still enough privacy. Bathrooms, parking and dish sinks were very close. Overall a great experience, hope to go back soon!

It was private even though the nearest campsite was only 30 or so feet away. The restrooms were clean, warm and never crowded. I did not feel like I was in an open tent area where everyone could see what I was doing. We hiked up Devil's Hall. I had never seen anything like it.One suggestion, let us print out reservation cards, when we make the reservation, to clip onto the post at the campsite trail entrance to show the campsite is officially reserved.

Gorgeous views from the campground; easy access to bathrooms, water, and trails. The only downside was lack of shade - there are only ~2 picnic tables nearby that have some shade during the day and only 1 (unofficial) parking spot - otherwise, it's difficult to get any reprieve during the hot days.

I have been coming here for 60 years, since my boy scout days. I do not believe the online registration has been properly debugged. If a person with a reservation does not arrive by a certain hour, the camp space should become available. Every hospitality facility does this. There was no camp host, presumably because there is now nothing for them to do. Are campers really the same type of people as those with their noses buried in a smart phone? I suspect this process makes it easier for the park service but not necessarily for the camper. Registration had a steep learning curve. Took two visits and about 1 1/2 hours.

Poor overall experience, camp host was rude and acted like a ranger on a power trip. The site was ok, your right on top of other campers. Not on the top of must return list.

Nice sites with a great view of the mountains. Restrooms, sinks, and trailheads were a short walk. Plan accordingly for the high winds, the campground and surrounding area can turn into a wind tunnel.

The Pine Springs Campground was beautiful, well-maintained, super clean, and conveniently located next to a TON of trailheads (including Guadalupe Peak). All of the campsites also had tree cover which you do not always get in the desert, so having shade was a bonus! The campground hosts walked around every morning, afternoon, and evening to check in on people and were very nice. There are bathrooms, trash bins, lots of parking, water faucet, and a public dishwashing area which is all appreciated. The only thing we misunderstood about the campground is that we could not camp in our car (we have a Jeep set up), but that was something we misunderstood and not a reflection on the campground. Instead, we just camped under the stars and made the best out of it. We will be back for more hikes!
