Great campsite. If fellow campers dont park in the lot straight, parking can be an issue. Also it would have been helpful to have a wind warning at the campsite, as there were up to 30mph gusts. That being said, its overall a great location and facilities the NPS provides at a very reasonable price

Beautiful area with very well laid out campsites. We tented and there was plenty of flat ground for our two tents.

Tent area does not have water as advertised. Dishwashing station is in RV area, not tent area. Site #16 has no shade and was very windy (highest site with no tree protection).

The Pine Springs campground at Guadalupe Mountains National Park is the best public tent camping area within at least a 100 mile radius. Because the campground is small (less than 25 tent sites), it is essential to reserve in advance. Even when the national park is busy during the day, the campground is pleasantly quiet in the evenings because of the small size and lack of other nearby facilities. The RV campground did not appear nearly as appealing as the tents-only campground. We enjoyed the regulation that prohibits campfires in the campground, which keeps the air fresh at your tent site.

This is a beautiful campground, well maintained and easily accessible. The hiking trails are nearby and the visitor center is very informative. We tented and it was windy!!! Be aware that this is not unusual! We also had a hammer to set our tent stakes and were glad to have it. The ground is hard. The views are lovely and sunsets sunrises are gorgeous! I would return here gladly.

It's a small campground with campsites that are relatively close in vicinity, though separated by trees. My campsite was #16, which was private for the most part - close to the Group Sites and the restrooms. Campsite is fairly hard and rocky, which is par for the course, but it was very well maintained and clean. Had a picnic bench which makes things easy to set up your stove and have lunch/dinner/breakfast. Toilets are close by. Unfortunately, the water fountains at the campground were inoperative, so there's no potable water - you'll need to bring your own. Parking at the campsite is limited, with overflow parking available some distance away. So, the parking will fill up quickly and latecomers will find themselves having to park some distance away and carry their stuff in.

Site 16 for tent has close/easy access from road. There was no water in the park except at the bathrooms by the trailhead to Guadalupe Peak.

Be aware that some tent sites are walk-in only and parking is not always convenient. Dish washing sink is in RV section of campground.

This campground can be very windy. We were booked for 3 nights in April, but after our tent poles bent in winds with gusts forecast to 60 mph, and the forecast for the next night including gusts to 90 mph, we left after 2 nights. This is not a complaint against the campground. But with one now required to book well in advance for what used to be walk-up sites, you have to check the weather forecast and be ready with a Plan B.

You definitely want to be prepared for high winds. I used large rocks to hold my tent down. Its great that a number of trails can be accessed right from the campground. The views of the mountains are gorgeous at sunrise and sunset. The only thing I wish was at the campsite was some sort of hard shelter to go to to escape strong winds and sun when you are hanging out at the end of the day

We enjoyed hiking the trails and the scenery at Guadalupe National Park. All the staff we interacted with were friendly, courteous and truly helpful.Initially our tent site was pleasant and the restrooms were very clean. that ended when during the last few days of our visit, a large group of nearly 30 people arrived in 2 vans with a trailer and another vehicle. Some people stayed in the handicap site next to us and the rest in the site to the south of the campground toilets. Two of the trip leaders and some of the folks in their group were loud. Eventually I did speak to one of the trip leaders (Sadie) about the noise.the next day the two vault toils had fecal matter on the toilet seats and the floor was sticky from pee. I have no doubt that it was this group. The next night had an additional group arriving in a van with about 15 more people. There was tension with campers due to the lack of parking availability. The campground facilities (20 tent sites) obviously had too many people (over 100 at our visit) for parking and toilet facilities. While the Park and recreation.gov can only monitor certain visitor behavior, what could be improved upon is limiting the number of people and vehicles in the tent campground. Since both number of people and vehicles are part of the reservation process, a computer program enhancement could handle this situation.I think it is great that people experience the outdoors however the quality of the visit is important. Overbooking sites and facilities impacts the enjoyment and memories. We left a day early.

Location wise, this has one of the best views from any campground we have stayed at. We were not expecting to hear road noise all night, but it was present. It was not loud just unexpected for a NP. The sites were very clean and close to main hiking trails. Would stay again if, we can here again.

The back country briefing and orientation was very thorough. All staff and volunteers were very professional. I want to particularly commend Ranger Mike. As a retired U. S. Army Colonel, I observed him respond to me directly in a uniquely candid way. He has great leadership potential. He and I know what I am talking about. You may eventually understand it.

Nice well keep campground as well as visitor center. Access to hiking trails close to campground too. So didnt have to drive to trailhead to hike Guadalupe peak.

I had tent campsite #16, The good news is it' s close to the bathrooms, the bad news, it's close to the bathrooms! You get to hear all the traffic heading there all evening. Oh well, made for short walk for me. No shade at all on #16. My first trip to Guadalupe NP so had nothing but some online searches to help. Some sites obvious do have large trees offering shade but tend to be the one deeper into the campsite so more hauling of your gear, etc. Overall the park itself was well-maintained, bathrooms clean & stocked, camp pads large enough for tent and chairs. I had a large sunscreen but it required me to walk into the cactus to set the guidelines so no bueno there.

I spent 3 days with my wife and daughter, that was really enjoyable but I have to say the front desk person we talked to was not very informative. The campsite was nice but they should put shelters over the tables in order for you to get out of the sun especially when the winds are up, we tried our canopy but it did not work. I think they should also do a later (after dark) walk through of the campsites, there were several fires in the campgrounds that should not have been there due to the Burn Ban and some of the higher campsites being closed due to fires. dishwashing was easy enough to figure out but the signage did not help, there were several people washing dishes in the drinking fountain, they should fix the water at the main office it is constantly leaking. The hikes we beautiful and worth every step.

This is an incredibly beautiful and clean campground!! I love that the sites are set back from the road so you dont have your car in your campsite. Some might find this annoying if you are bringing a lot of things as you will need to carry them to the site, but I found it made the campsite seem more remote. We also LOVED being able to walk to the trailheads for most of the trails. It was nice to have pit toilets relatively close by, but also access to running water in the RV campsite/parking lot. Also wonderful to have a dishwashing site. It was very quiet when we were there in April. The only downside is that obviously in the spring it can get very windy, which made it hard to sleep. So if thats something you'll worry about, check the weather before you book or have a backup plan!

I really appreciated how camping is organized at this park. Tent campers have a good amount of privacy and all sites are constructed in a way that minimizes impact.

We camped at campsite 16 in Pine Springs. Very peaceful and quite area. Close to the restroom and walking distance to parking. We hiked the Peak the following day and the trailhead is very close. I will camp here again to hike McKittrick Canyon.

The camp sites are nestled into the desert, completely set apart from one another. Bathroom was clean. The only downside was the intense wind that almost knocked our tent over....we heard that was pretty common so be sure to plan for wind regarding structures and cooking.
