Great camp sites. Beautiful park. Weather kept me off the summit but what can you do?

Overall, a good campground with easy access to hiking the Guadelupe Mountains or a quick trip up to Carlsbad. Tent sites are reasonably sized but a majority have ZERO shade. Flush toilets and availability of water is a big plus compared to the many sites we stayed on this trip that did not have them. Only issues we had at this campsite were 45+ mph winds on the first night (other nights were a much lighter 25+ mph gusts) and LOTS of wildlife including skunks (that have learned how to work a zipper on a tent), snakes (saw at least 3 different types including 2 types of rattlesnakes), and deer. Have stayed at this campsite before and would be OK staying again (but would avoid the summer since it is REALLY hot. Temp was 113 degrees the first day).

Someone attempted to slash both our rear tires, either parked near our campsite or parked at the Guadalupe Peak Trailhead. Fortunately only one tire developed a slow leak from this and we were able to air up then put on our one spare. Otherwise. love this campground. But property safety on the weekends needs to be considdered as I was told by a park ranger that this trailhead is super busy every weekend.

It was a primitive site as advertised. However the location is suited to such sites. It is worth the lack of creature comforts to be there and to preserve the wilderness as best we can as a texas society.Really enjoyed the hiking and sights.

Nice campground but the parking is kinda crappy, you have to park your car and walk your stuff in, that's kind of annoying. The campsite had a lot of pebbles so not the best for tents. Extremely windy so take caution. Hardly any tree coverage.

Nice sites with great views. Most of them are walk-ins, but this makes them more picturesque. Nice and clean warmed restrooms, which was great in February!

Good camping sites for tents. Just a parking lot for RVs but it is all set up well. Be sure to check out several of the trails as they are all different and beautiful in their own way.
Rangers were knowledgeable and helpful and the overview of the history of the area in the Visitor Center is great.

Nice isolated campsites, not much shade or wind protection. I have a small teardrop camper (fits in a single parking space) and our family uses a tent. Bad campground for this setup. Bathrooms were fine, close enough walk. Camp host volunteer was very helpful and friendly and made the rounds. Parking is a bit chaotic as sites dont have dedicated spots and in some places are unclear.

It was disappointing that the website advertised having potable water available and then the running water was turned off for the winter. We had prepared enough to have water, but if we had gone off of what the website and it's alerts provided, we would have struggled. There was a waterbottle filler, but it was in disrepair and consistently extremely dirty to where its use was concerning. The composting toilets also ran out of toilet paper multiple times. With the limited facilities available, it would have been nice if their maintenance was better.

Beautiful Campground. Rangers were nice and not invasive, unlike the Texas State Park Rangers, which seem to be more aggressive.

Gorgeous site. Really only big enough tent pad for 1 tent. The tent pad flooded, so we had to move to campsite 9 for one night. Great site if it isnt raining.

Watch out for the wind and the lack of shade. Hike was great, minus the lack of shade shade and the intense winds

We loved our campsite here. We had to walk in from the road and there were paths to several other campsites along the way but we could not see or hear our neighbors at all. Very nice setting.
