Unexpected to be camping in a paved parking lot. Great access to hiking from this parking lot which resulted in hikers parking in spots meant for campers.

Considering it is a parking lot, it's a great place to stay if you have an RV setup that can fit in a 50' x 24' space. The main reason to stay here for me was quick access to the Guadalupe Peak trailhead. It was also close to other park attractions, within walking or driving distance.

Beautiful boondocking location. Great view of sunrise and sunset. Large pull through sites for big rigs. Our 39' Class A with towed vehicle behind just fit. We did experience the high winds (60 mph+), so watch out for that. Felt very safe otherwise.

This Campground is a parking lot, but it is a nice parking lot and you know it before you get there. There should be a sign that says you are on mountain time as there was one fellow raising cain because he thought the generators were running too late.

Very close to the Pine Springs visitor center and trailheads for hikes. Bathrooms were flush toilets and clean. RV sites were large and accommodating. Only downside was the rig next to us had an exhaust problem while running their generator and caused our propane alarm to go off. Since the sites are right on top of each other it was hard to avoid.

This is such a beautiful location with some of the best hiking in Texas. I wouldnt stay in the peak summer months as it would be too hot to boondock or hike for me. The restrooms were clean and fresh water was plentiful.

This is a trailhead parking lot turned into an RV campground. There are bathrooms and a place to wash dishes but no showers. If you are into hiking this is a good location as the most icon hikes in the park start right outside your door.

I had no idea that this "campground" was an asphalt parking lot. It was very disappointing.

Okay campground. Would be lots better if it wasnt a parking lot. Just because Im no longer a tent camper doesnt mean some space and privacy should be sacrificed. The visitor center, rest rooms, trails and the staff were all great.

This is a paved lot without electricity or sewer. There are flush toilets, drinking water, recycle and refuse bins and a dish washing sink avaliable. It is located at the trailhead with access to Guadalupe Peak and El Capitan among other trails. The views are wonderful and the sunrise and sunsets are breathtaking. It can be very windy here. There are no nearby stores or gas stations so come prepared.

Basically all this campground consists of is a parking lot. You pay to park your RV in a parking lot! There are no hookups, no dump station, no water but there is a toilet that is available to anyone in the park. If you need a place to park then you might as well find some BLM land that at least has some character versus a parking lot. Think Wal-Mart or Cracker Barrel and then your mind can accept this. The tent camping area is far superior and has some character.

The scenery is wonderful but a parking lot for a campground is not. Not fun being only 3-4 feet from the RV next to you. The rangers at the visitor center were really helpful.

Large, open parking lot/spaces for RVs. Strictly adhere to space limitations. I can often put our 32 foot Class A in a spot with a 25 foot limitation because of how far in from the back of the RV the rear wheels are. Believe the photos that the 22 foot spaces are that with no room to spare. When we visited people with cars, SUVs, vans or truck campers fit those spaces. Loved the location/view as well as the quiet and night sky. Trail head for Guadalupe Peak starts right at the lot. Very friendly fellow campers. We hadn't been here in over 20 years and forgot how beautiful the mountains are. Thank you NPS.

We find reasons to stay here. If we take a long trip we use this place as a stop and rest point. We love to come and camp here. Also, love hiking this area. Have never had a bad experience. Will be back very soon.

It is convenient to the trails. Parking area was wide enough, but you are right next to other RVs.

Limited camping resources for RVs and basically a trailhead parking experience. Other than that some nice hiking. Experienced intense winds so setting anything up outside our RV was pretty much out of the question.

I spent my entire career working for the state of TX (30 years) promoting travel & tourism in TX. Started at the Texas Tourist Development Agency in 1979, and first visited GMNP in 1980. I returned numerous times over the years to see the changes at this splendid national park. I last visited the park as a retiree a decade ago. The park itself remains magnificent, with much to offer visitors.Sadly, the park appears to be one of the step-children of the NPS. How else could one explain the current campground situation there? Yes, since my last visit, the NPS has added some quite nice camp sites for tent campers. That was very welcome to see. Yet, the sites for RV campers remain, well, less than optimal. The RV "campground" is hosted on the paved parking lot at Pine Springs. About 20 or so sites, which only recently can one reserve in advance. Be forewarned, most the sites remain suited for small RVs. If you have a longer rig, you'll have to search out for one of the few spots that will accommodate your RV.The parking lot has minimum separation between the sites, so campers are elbow to elbow, so to speak. No water or electric hookups exist, there's a hose bib near the restrooms for campers to fill water jugs. Still, campers there we spoke with enjoyed the chance to experience the park; but all lamented the very cursory campground. Yes, I know the NPS has experienced many funding issues over the years, but come on. There are only three national parks in TX: Big Bend, Guadalupe Mountains, and Padre Island National Seashore. Can't the NPS find a bit of funding to enhance GMNP visitors' camping experience?
