Great campground to start/stop a 5 day backpacking trip on Baxter Creek/AT/Chestnut trail loop. Hoping for campsite pictures and a campground map online soon.

Big Creek Campsite is great! Easy access to the river. Nice facilities. Not too crowded. We benefited from people no-showing to their reserved sites as the area was 'fully booked' but we were surrounded by empty sites, which was nice. Campsite host was nice and helpful.

Camp Host and maintenance man were great.

Restroom needs to be updated.

Holes in gravel road need to be filled in.

The park is increasing the daily campsite fee in 2023. If repairs are not made, the questions arises "Will it be worth the cost to camp in this campground?"

Fantastic campground! The park hosts were very nice and knowledgeable. We were in site #3, in the back corner along the stream and it was perfect. Highly recommend this area to anyone!

Spent four days here. It was quite and all campers were nice and respectful. This is the best of tent camping. No loud generators or RVs idling. Restrooms were clean and easy to access. Lots of hiking. Took a bath in the river which was fun but super cold! Will stay here again!

Very nice camping area and very close to hiking trails. Be careful when thinking about camping in this campground. The website when booking is misleading. You have to park your car in a parking lot and your not allowed to park at your camp site. It is a little bit of a walk back and forth to your vehicle when unloading and loading.

One of the prettiest and serene campsites I've ever been too, and I have camped all over the country. I really enjoyed the sounds of the rushing creek nearby.

This was my favorite campground by far! The sites are far enough apart to feel private and still close enough to feel the security of community. The bathrooms were clean and well lit although you need a flashlight or headlamp to wander in at night. The parking lot had plenty of space and wasn’t excessively far from any of the sites. There is no camp store for wood or ice or anything else you might need so come prepared. I would love to come back to this camp ground!

All but 1 campsite in the tent camping section was reserved, and the site next to us was not. Someone set up there. The men's restroom was dirty when we arrived. According to our reservation, we had 3 tents on the site, but there was only room for one on the tent pad. The regulations said tents were not to be placed off the pad, but we had to put up a tent off the pad. Otherwise, the site was good, the area was clean and it was wonderful to have firewood provided. The area was marked adequately but it was a very long walk from the hiker parking area to the trailhead. The tent camping area did not allow overnight hiker parking so it made our hike quite a bit longer as we had so far to walk before the trailhead for Mt. Sterling. Rangers were available for issues during our stay of one night in the campground.

Great location for tent campers who don't like to be surrounded by motorhomes and RV's. Low density area with lots of space between sites. Very pretty with good access to several trails without driving out of the campground. Somewhat remote with no cell service (T-Mobile) until we hiked up to the AT. The trails were all quite steep for us (we're from south Florida). We're relatively fit but in our 70's. We still managed to get in a good two hour hike each day and then could relax at our campsite after lunch. My wife used some hiking poles which she found quite helpful. There are several places to swim but the water is cold for our south Florida bodies. Campground host was very friendly and helpful (they are rotated regularly so your experience may vary). There is centralized parking so you may have to walk some distance to your site. All food etc must be kept in your car or a special bear locker in the parking area. Bear sightings are not unusual (we had two the first night, one near the bathrooms and one right next to our site which was on the periphery of the campground next to a creek (The bear was more startled then I was and scurried off -- still bring some bear spray). We visited in September so the campground was not fully booked and the weather was good. I would definitely visit this campground again.
