Narrow, winding road up to the campground, but little oncoming traffic. I have a van and wouldnt want to tow a trailer up there. Couple of spots where someone has to back up. However, campground was well worth the drive. Lovely, quiet site right on the river. Was only there one night but would love to go back.

The road up wasn't horrible. Wouldn't want to do it in the dark or with an RV attached. Campground itself has ONE bathhouse with 2 stalls for females and one for males. This restroom facility also serves all the vistiors coming in for the day to see the elk, so good luck trying to get in when you need it most if you are camping there. Considering most campers are tent or tiny RV campers they need to add an additional bathroom. There was no host the entire time we were there. There is no pay phone or ranger station nearby so if you injure yourself or suddenly find yourself having a heart attack or stroke you are out of luck. They post a sign that says, you might get cell coverage down the road a ways, around a curve, by a small turn out. Nope, not even a little, plus good luck finding it in an emergency. This area seems to be the forgotten area of the park. The elk fields are one lane and overcrowded and impossible to navigate during peak time. No one enforces the 50 yard rule and the poor elk are surrounded by idiots.

Very nice campground. Some good walking trails nearby, no cell service at camp. I drove to the entrance to the park to use cell service.

Most beautiful campground in the smokies! You can hear the elk bugle at night. The stream is pristine, and the location is peaceful.

An amazing campsite in one of the most beautiful and secluded places in the Eastern U.S. The drive in is not easy from Asheville and you'll be on a single lane dirt road for a few miles. Pack all you need for the stay because once you're in, you're in. You'll also want to stay in as long as possible because it is beautiful!

Campground hostess was very Helpful. There are many hiking trails in the area. Easy flat walk to view the elk. Will go back to do more hiking.

There were many people approaching or getting in close proximity of the elk. The elk patrol needs more help in controlling peoples impetuous actions. The elk class at the post office was wonderful!!! Be sure to check the seal on bought firewood especially at the entrance of the camp road. Just because they are near by doesnt mean its been heat treated. Some of the pines are being affected by invasive beetles.
